Knights in the Know
August 25, 2017
A-F: Tuesday, Sept. 5
G-L: Wednesday, Sept. 6
M-S: Thursday, Sept. 7
T-Z: Friday, Sept. 8
To help us plan for this special week, we are asking that you RSVP to let us know your grandparents are coming and whether or not they will be purchasing a lunch from our cafeteria. We definitely want to be sure to have enough food prepared! If you have not already done so, please complete this short questionnaire, by Sept. 1st, to help us in this effort.
Do You Know Your Strengths?
The Clifton Strength Explorer is a tool developed by Gallup for students in grades 5-10. Blanton 4th and 5th graders took an assessment this week which identified their three strongest emerging talents. Students were given explanations of these three talents, and will be given strategies to encourage growth, and action items to help them, as well as their teachers and parents utilize these strengths in the classroom and in life.
Parents have the opportunity to go online and learn about their child’s strengths. There are also tips for parents to help them as they work with their children utilizing their particular strengths.
We are excited for these students as they grow and learn.
PTA Spirit Wear
We are greatly appreciative of all the work our PTA does for staff, students, and parents. Right now they are busy planning special events for this school year. This includes getting the word out about PTA memberships, spirit wear, and more.
All spirit wear will be on sale until Sept. 1st through the PTA webpage at www.BlantonPTA.org. Orders will be sent home mid-September with your student.
While on the PTA website, please update your profile with your students' name, teacher and grade level. This information can be accessed when you click on "My Account" and is helpful in distribution of items for your student.
Tax Referendum Election (TRE) Town Hall
Crayola and schools across North America are banding together to help kids understand the importance of their role in protecting the environment. Through the "Crayola ColorCycle" initiative, students in K-12 schools across the continental United States and parts of Canada can collect and repurpose used Crayola markers.
Our Blanton PTA will be collecting used markers here at school. Feel free to bring markers from home as well.
Can any markers be sent in or just Crayola brand markers?
Crayola ColorCycle will accept all brands of plastic markers, not just Crayola markers. That includes dry erase markers and highlighters! ColorCycle will eliminate placing hundreds of tons of markers into landfills.
Arrival and Dismissal
Our doors open in the morning at 7:15. Students who come at that time may eat breakfast in the cafeteria or go to the gym for morning activities such as the one pictured. Soon we will also open our computer lab so students may work on Imagine Math (TTM) or other web-based games available to them. We have noticed that our traffic is very light until around 7:30-7:35 and we encourage students to come a bit earlier. As a reminder, this year the tardy bell rings at 7:40.
