NOTRE DAME CATHOLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL
22 July 2021
Parishes worldwide have been asked to dedicate one of the Sunday Masses on 25 July to grandparents and the elderly, linking it to the memorial of Saints Joachim and Anne, grandparents of Jesus on 26 July. Whilst our school will celebrate our Grandparents later in the Term, our prayer today is in appreciation of them and all that they do for us.

I thank You, Lord, for the comfort of Your presence:
even in times of loneliness,
You are my hope and my confidence,
You have been my rock and my fortress since my youth!
I thank You for having given me a family
and for having blessed me with a long life.
I thank You for moments of joy and difficulty,
for the dreams that have already come true in my life
and for those that are still ahead of me.
I thank You for this time of renewed fruitfulness
to which You call me.
Increase, O Lord, my faith, make me a channel of your peace,
teach me to embrace those who suffer more than me,
to never stop dreaming and to tell of your wonders to new generations.
Protect and guide Pope Francis and the Church,
that the light of the Gospel might reach the ends of the earth.
Send Your Spirit, O Lord, to renew the world,
that the storm of the pandemic might be calmed,
the poor consoled and wars ended.
Sustain me in weakness and help me to live life to the full in each moment that You give me, in the certainty that you are with me every day,
even until the end of the age.
Amen.
Dear Parents and Staff
We’re only a few days into the new school Term and the holidays already appear to be a distant memory. The Term ahead is packed with so many activities ranging from the Sacrament of Confirmation, Presentation Day, Athletics Carnivals through to days when we recognise our Dads and Grandparents. Amidst all of these events we still have an educational curriculum to follow, and our staff will be working hard to ensure that the children are kept on track with completing all aspects of this.
We have recently seen an escalation of the COVID 19 virus throughout the eastern and central states and hope that this doesn’t progress to Western Australia but, as always, it’s very much a “watch this space” situation. Please be assured that, in the event of any future lockdowns, we are ready to quickly set up remote learning so that the children’s learning is disrupted as little as possible. I’m sure parents are as hopeful as we are that this doesn’t occur, but the possibility must remain at the forefront of our planning.
4 YEAR-OLD KINDERGARTEN - 2022
We are very close to finalising our enrolments for next year, so it is imperative that any families within the school who have children that they would like enrolled, contact Sharmane Dowse in the school office immediately.
LEAVE
Daniela Boyle, Assistant Principal, has taken some well-deserved Long Service Leave for this week and next. Classes for the children in Daniela’s MacqLit Literacy groups will recommence on Monday 2 August. We wish Daniela a very relaxing couple of weeks break and look forward to her return in Week 3 of Term.
UNIFORM
Towards the end of last Term, it became quite noticeable that some children were not wearing the correct uniform. The uniform is a sign of our identity and should be worn in its entirety with pride. Please assist us by ensuring that your children wear the correct uniform.
ADVANCED NOTICE
Our OSHC will be closed on the last two days of this Term, 23 & 24 September, as the staff will be participating in some whole school staff events
P&F DISCO
This is a great event organised by our very active P&F Association. Parents should have received information about the Disco during this week. Please go to the following link to register your child’s attendance.

PERFORMING ARTS FESTIVAL

YEAR 5 NEWS
Welcome back to Term Three! It’s hard to believe that we are entering the second semester of 2021 already. The students have returned with a positive attitude and are ready to take on the challenges of Term Three. This term is jam-packed with activities such as Edu Dance, specialist art with Mrs Flexman and, of course, the much anticipated Night of the Notables.
Edu Dance
The students are looking forward to participating in Edu Dance this term and are eagerly awaiting the news about which song they will be performing to! Edu Dance will take place on Monday, starting next week. Students will be able to wear their sports uniform on this day.
Night of the Notables
Building on from the Awesome Aussies in Year Four, our Year Five students will be preparing and delivering an oral presentation on a chosen ‘Notable’. The presentations will take place in Week Six and the students will be given plenty of time to prepare.
Pen Licenses
Each year in Year Five, students work hard to earn the right to use a pen. Students must demonstrate consistently neat handwriting to earn their ‘pen licence’. Check out the latest batch of licence holders!

OSHC - TERM 3 Week 1
We had so much fun in Vacation Care for the school holidays doing loads of great activities.
We started our holidays activities with construction making where we utilised lots of recycled items to come up with some great creations. We had prizes for the best creation but there were multiple winners due to it being very hard to choose one.
With the weather not being very nice we really enjoyed a lot of indoor activities such as colouring in competition, face/arm painting, dream catcher designing, dancing, bead making, indoor dodgeball, rob the nest, play dough, clay creations, origami, mask making and sock puppets.
We had a magical day with science where we did crazy science experiments. We had a dinosaur that tricked us, cool glasses that made our eyes see rainbows, slime making and cloud in a bag.
Space day was a great day where we created space rockets, coloured in the planets and created alien cut outs.
We even had a day where we played Wii sports games on the TV which the children loved playing.
In vacation care we celebrated NAIDOC week with story time, discussed the seasons and created a painting mural on canvas.
