Spring 2016: New Trends This Month
Denim is making a comeback in a big way this spring. The obvious form of denim is a pair of jeans. From a jean standpoint, we are seeing a lot more ripped jeans than normal, and they tend to be ripped around the knees. Other forms of denim we are seeing is denim button up shirts, and they always classic denim jean jacket. In some cases we are seeing a vintage denim-on-denim look. If you're going for this look, make sure it's two different shades of denim.
Short Shorts
It will start to get very warm in the coming weeks, and it will son be time to bust out the shorts. Shorts that sat below the knee have slowly been phased out. In 2015 we saw a ton of short shorts being sported by men. These shorts sit just above the knee on the lower part of the thigh. Khaki is a common form, but lighter coloured shorts can look very nice as well.
Featured Monthly Product: Chelsea Boots
I picked up a pair of these Chelsea Boots at Journey earlier this month to wear for spring, and I love them. They are so comfortable, and they go with whatever I'm wearing. I chose brown boots based on the fact that I think they go with a lot more outfits than a black or grey pair would. These boots look great with any kind of pants, whether it be jeans, khakis, or even dress pants. Just not track pants or shorts! The only negative thing I have to say about the Chelsea Boots is that they easily get scuffed and marked up. I have to wipe them down after every time I wear them to assure that they stay clean.I strongly suggest picking a pair up to wear this spring.
Question From My Followers
This months edition comes from Twitter user @UrbanFashion101
Q: "Any tips you can give my followers looking for a casual street look?"
A: My original reply to this question on Twitter was just stating a simple outfit that give out a street look, but there are many other options. Any casual street look starts with footwear. Most sneakers or running shoes will look good, as will a pair of casual boots. Next, your pant choice will rely on the type of shoes you are wearing. If you choose sneakers, a pair of trendy track pants or khakis will do. If you're wearing boots, you can wear pretty much any type of pants besides track pants. Just make sure they go with the colour of boots you choose. Choosing your top is fairly wide open, but again, the top you choose is reliant on your lower half. Whatever you choose, I think the perfect way to cap off a casual street outfit is wearing a light jacket over top.

#FashionFail of the Month
I spotted the gentlemen pictured to the left in my classroom, and couldn't believe the socks he was wearing. Not only were they two different styles of socks, but they were two different colours! This is a huge red flag, and can show laziness. I have stressed the importance of good footwear, and socks are a large part of that. Stick to black socks if you are unsure, but if you are going to wear white, please make sure they're the same matching pair.
Tweet me your best #FashionFail or one that you've seen, and I'll feature it on next month's edition.
