Dear Tuscany Heights Elementary Parents,
Thank you for choosing Tuscany Heights! It is with great excitement that we open the doors for your children this August! We are celebrating 10 years of excellence at the Greatest School on Earth! In 2016, we all SYNERGIZED and received the Stephen Covey Lighthouse recognition for being the 168th Lighthouse School in the world due to our student leadership opportunities, and we continue to embrace the habits to grow leaders. This school year, we will have a visit from the Lighthouse Team to audit just how prevalent these habits are throughout the day at Tuscany. We are on to new HEIGHTS this year! To all families, we look forward to SYNERGIZING with you, our students, and our staff to make this the best year yet!
By BEGINNING WITH THE END IN MIND and setting goals last year, our high achieving students and hardworking staff led us to meeting state accountability standards. The State of Texas has rated Tuscany Heights Elementary School, on an A-F rating system, a letter B. We are thrilled with the performance of all students, staff, and the parental support, and we are also using the data to ensure we continue showing growth. We will use our data to set new goals to focus on for the 2019-20 school year. The state accountability system is a complex method, yet we use it as a guide to support our staff and students in achieving student growth and increase student performance.
THINK WIN-WIN as we move into our second year with continued safety practices/precautions in place for our staff, students, and families! We have a buzz-in monitor system located at the front door for all visitors to the campus. Visitors are only allowed in after ringing the doorbell and being buzzed in by the office staff. The monitor allows us to see each person entering the building. The safety protocols for this year can be found on our Tuscany Heights School Website: https://www.neisd.net/tuscanyheights and they are also embedded below. The procedures will be briefly reviewed at Meet the Teacher, noted in the front cover of our Tiger Agendas, posted on social media, and on our website. We want to BE PROACTIVE, so please review these procedures. Help us keep our children, staff, and parents safe at all times.
As we move into this year, please remember that we PUT FIRST THINGS FIRST by making our instructional time a priority and ask that you respect our time with the students. Time in the classroom is crucial for our students to make adequate gains from one year to the next. Our teachers work hard to prepare our students for all grade level objectives as well as building the foundation for the upcoming grade level. Increasing our academic percentages and attendance continue to be two of our goals for this year. We are striving to meet 97% attendance rate each semester while increasing student growth in all accountability areas. In 2018-29, with the 97% goal in place, we reached 96%. We strive to reach 97% for 2019-20.
This is our second year as a STEAM Initiative Pilot Campus for NEISD. Last year, it was our one-year goal to incorporate Project Based Learning activities into 4th and 5th grade, as well as, give our K-3 classrooms opportunities to dive into this way of learning through our STEAM LAB and their classrooms too. All Pre-K-5th grade students will participate in our STEAM Lab where they will build, explore, create, code, design, and so much more. We are SEEKING FIRST TO UNDERSTAND the career opportunities your child will have and then wanting them TO BE UNDERSTOOD by sharing prototypes and inventions for feedback. Please join us by being a voice and an encourager for our talented students. We had nearly 20 different career specific speakers on campus supporting our students and their inquiry to learn more about the topics teachers were incorporating into their state curriculum. We also worked closely with Art to Remember to bring classroom art to life. This provided opportunities for families to purchase items with their child’s artwork. What a wonderful keepsake! We are continuing with this new tradition again this year times two! We will have a fall and spring order. The students love seeing their artwork!
As we continue to BRAND our school with goals, leadership, inspiration, honor, and excellence, we will have science, technology, engineering, art, and math making their mark on our instructional plans. We want all students, parents, and staff to work together to create a dynamic learning environment for our students. While we want to be Proactive, Begin with the End in Mind, Put First Things First, Think Win-Win, Seek First to Understand and then be Understood, Synergize, Sharpen the Saw, we also want our adult and student leaders to FIND THEIR VOICE during inquiry based learning and exploration. Won’t you help us develop life-long learners and leaders by leading?
Sincerely,
Tara Bailey, Proud Principal of THE
