Fall Sports Update
Boys' Soccer - On October 15th, the Alder Boys traveled to Hammonton MS to take on the Blue Devils. Having lost their defensive leader to a broken collarbone the week before, the Eagles were a considerable underdog in the match. Despite only having 2 subs on the bench, the boys jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead. The Blue Devils were in shock and began to fall apart. The Eagles took the lead into halftime and continued to pressure in the second half. Hammonton fought back, though scoring 10 minutes into the second half. The Eagles rallied and held the Blue Devils at bay until the waning minutes of the game. Hammonton tied up the game on a set piece. Fortunately, time expired and the match ended in a draw. For the Eagles, though, the day was a victory.
Mother Nature conspired to keep the AAMS boys off of the pitch on both Monday and Tuesday. The next game was Thursday the 24th. Buena paid Alder a visit. The Chiefs were looking to avenge a 4-2 loss on the opening day of the season. Buena jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead and never looked back. Although the Eagles managed to put two in the net, the Chiefs remained confidently in control of the match. The final score was 6-2 and the loss dropped the Eagles' record to 2-3-2.
Next week, the boys will look for payback against both Fernwood and Lakeside MS.
Field Hockey - The Field Hockey team beat Buena 2-1 to improve their record to 2-2-2. Gabby Hiltner scored the first goal, assisted by Jossalyn Gagnon, and the second goal was scored by Ava Callio, assisted by Angelina Petracci. Cross Country - The XC team will face Middle Twp on Friday afternoon. Good luck, team!
