Together in Spirit Stewardship Campaign
We are truly Together in Spirit, part of a loving, vibrant community, whether we gather virtually or in-person. Your pledge during the OUUC 2021 Stewardship Campaign is a way to further knit our community together. Pledge materials will arrive at your house soon, please fill them out or pledge online by October 18. Questions? Contact Sally Brennand.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 10, 4:00 - 5:00 pm - an event with no fundraising, just a celebration of being Together in Spirit. We will have a live music event by our own Troy Fisher, featuring original songs, standards, and show music, featuring talent from the congregation and greater community.
From Rev. Mary and Sara Lewis
Last Saturday, I was honored to participate in a Leadership Charge organized by Sara Lewis, our Director of Community and Faith Development. About 20 OUUC leaders gathered on Zoom to reflect on what makes a good leader, the leadership qualities we want to develop this year, and what we’d like in order to feel supported this year.
Thanks to all who participated! Sara will take it from here with a summary of our afternoon work. Thank you, Sara! Read more....

In the Larger Community
I hope most of you are familiar with the Thurston Climate Mitigation plan. I also hope you can devote some time to listen to the two community meetings and the Open House feature to learn and provide feedback on the plan. All you need to know to participate in this important process is on the TCAT website. - Frank Turner
Menstrual Products Collection - Thurston County National Organization for Women (NOW) is sponsoring a collection drive of menstrual products for women with limited resources and to call attention to this need. Because of COVID 19 concerns, NOW has arranged an outdoor drop off of tampons and pads – the porch at the Olympia Woman’s Club, 1002 Washington Street SE, on two Saturdays, October 3 and 10, between the hours of 11:00 am and noon. All menstrual products collected will be shared with local groups aiding women, including Safeplace, The Other Bank at the Food Bank, CIELO, Family Support Center, and Community Youth Services.
Make Every Vote Count! The League of Women Voters of Thurston County just released “Be A Voter,” video. The video speaks to young voters concerned about current events. See the video here. Not registered? You can register here.
The Dispute Resolution Center of Thurston County is actively seeking volunteers to help resolve conflict, promote civility, and create peace in our community. The DRC is a community-based, volunteer-powered non-profit organization dedicated to conflict resolution and prevention in the South Sound. Volunteers can become trained as mediators and work directly with people in conflict, both in-person and through the DRC’s new Online Dispute Resolution Services. Volunteers can also help people over the phone through the Conflict Resolution Resource Line. To learn more about volunteer opportunities and upcoming training, email or visit MediateThurston.org.
