Trimester 2 Concludes
As we conclude the second trimester this Friday (remember 1:55 dismissal), it is time to begin to reflect on how much we have done this year. The next three months ahead will be a flurry, and soon, spring will be upon us, but for now as we cuddle up with winter, let's see what where we have been.
We have enjoyed:
- Back to Binkley Night
- Expectation Stations - both fall and winter
- Garden Club
- New spirit wear - thank you Boosters!
- Common Ground Assembly
- Special Olympics: soccer & basketball. Extended our buddy program to include 3rd-5th graders
- Copperfields Author Visits: Chris Harris & Dev Petty
- Book Fair
- Winter Music Concert
- Latin X Dance returned for year 2. First time performing at our school monthly assembly.
- Each month a grade level is featured singing at the school-wide assembly
- Camp Binkley
- Bobcat of the Month Assemblies
- Art Docents in the classroom
- Girls & Boys Basketball with new coaches: Coach Renzi & Coach Gustavo
- So many grade level field trips: Jelly Belly Factory, Pumpkin Patch, Spring Lake, Pepperwood, Westminister Woods
- Dia de los Muertos Ofrenda
- Booster Events: Trunk or Treat, Turkey Trot, Winter Festival, Movie Nights
- Visitors to our campus: K9 Unit, Fire Department
- Welcoming our new STEM teacher, Ms. Espinoza
- Monthly Walk & Roll to School - this year with a highlight of Ruby Bridges Walk to School
- The NED Show (K-5th graders)

- Kindness Challenge
- Quercus Quire Assembly - Songs about Science and Nature (TK-3rd) - see picture. First time visiting Binkley.

Whew! And I am sure there are things that I missed!
We have more ahead with March's Read-A-Thon. Keep a look out for communication from your classroom teacher and other notifications. Let's get reading! The primary and upper grade student who reads the most (read to, audiobooks, or tangible book) gets to be PRINCIPAL FOR THE DAY!
BE Safe. BE Responsible. BE Respectful.
BE YOUR BINKLEY BEST!
Warmly,
Harmony Harvell, Principal
COVID-19 Update for Students
On January 9, 2024, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) issued an order revising the COVID-19 isolation guidance and procedures. As a public school district, we align practices with the CDPH recommendations for students and staff, and CAL/OSHA for staff as well.
The CDPH order updated the definition of "Infectious Period." For COVID-19 cases with symptoms, the infectious period is 24 hours from the day of symptom onset, therefore:
The student or staff member may return if 24 hours have passed with no fever, without the use of fever-reducing medications, and if symptoms are mild and improving.
For a student or staff member with no symptoms, there is no infectious period for the purpose of isolation. If symptoms develop, the criteria above will apply.
Staff and students may return to work or school as long as they are fever free for 24 hours and symptoms are improving. Staff and students are encouraged to wear a mask for 10 days after the onset of symptoms.
Public Health guidance provides suggestions to mitigate the spread of communicable disease, as such, the district is upholding these strategies around cleaning and optimizing indoor air quality.
