Weekly Update

from your Student Support Team

We hope you are doing well and we miss you! As the student support team, we wanted to reach out to families as a reminder that we are here and available to serve you. Our team is comprised of: Erin Cracchiolo (elementary school social worker), Meredith Newman (middle academy counselor), Sarah Naftel (senior academy counselor) and Autumn Robinson (school psychologist).

We are all seeing changes on a daily basis, and if a need arises, please communicate with EWA's Student Services Dept or any EWA staff member so you and your family can be connected with resources to help you during this challenging time. You are not in this alone - we are here to help!

Big picture

Here are a few ways we are here to help during our e-learning:

  • Backpack buddies: providing weekly snacks to students and families
  • Virtual counseling: please email your preferred contact person to schedule a session
  • Community resources: we have contacts and listings to help support your basic needs during this time of uncertainty

Students will receive an email (in their EWA gmail account) that their schedule is available. Students then have the choice to either make a virtual appointment (phone conference or video conference through Google Meet) to see and discuss their schedule or they can simply email me for a copy of their schedule. (link to virtual meeting will be sent to student in a separate email)

Mind, Body & Soul

Here are a few quick tips for self - care:

  • Family Schedule: Create a basic schedule that allows time for school work, chores, movement/exercise and free time.
  • Taking care of your physical body: Eating nutrious food, staying hydrated and getting in some exercise can help improve how we feel! Here is a fun way to build in movement - Go Noodle! or yoga with Cosmic Kid.
  • Mindful Moment: Practicing mindfulness can help reduce stress, anxiety and depression. You can add in a few minutes of mindful breathing into your daily schedule. Try stop, breathe and think for your student. Also, here are two parent resources: stop, breathe and think or MindUp.
  • Activites: Check out a couple fun activities to engage in self care - quarantine coloring pages & ABC's of self care
