Message from Dr. Taylor
Dear Mustang Families,
We’ve had a busy week at MHS. Our National Honor Society (NHS) executive board joined me in the Principal Conference Room to talk about volunteerism, college applications, and extracurricular activities. Our Student Athlete Leadership Team (SALT) joined the North Suburban Conference Student Leadership Summit and learned about mental wellness, positive perspective, and pushing onward from failure. Our Jazz Ensemble began prepping for their upcoming season and our Friday Focus is back, new video link here!
As a reminder, Open House is this Tuesday, August 29th at 5:30 PM. We look forward to meeting our families and providing valuable insight into our classrooms. Please take a moment to read through the Open House Schedule listed here (English / Español).
If you have any questions, please call the Main Office at 847-949-2200.
Go Mustangs!

Athletics
Coaches Corner - Girls Tennis
Submitted by Coach Winter
The team is off to a terrific start with a match record of 17-10 and 3-2 overall, with wins over McHenry, Crystal Lake South and Round Lake. The girls are 4-1 in deciding tiebreakers. Our #1 singles player, Gabi Lipske, is 5-0. Stella Moon & Mikaela Sosa are 4-1 in doubles this season so far. Kaitlin Johnson, Ashley Strachn & Demi Bousis all have 3 wins in doubles play. The varsity is headed to Jacobs tournament, played at McHenry H.S., this weekend if you're looking for something to do.
Coaches Corner - Girls Volleyball
Submitted by Coach Willis & Coach Campbell
The MHS Girls Volleyball program is off to a great start! We had a huge turnout of athletes at tryouts and were able to fill 5 full teams (Freshman A & B, Sophomore, JV, and Varsity). It has been a wonderful two weeks of team-building, skill improvement, and overall fun. The red/gray scrimmage for the Back to School Night was a blast, and it has made us all really excited for the season to come! We had our first match against Deerfield on Wednesday, August 23. Due to the heat, we moved the home game to Deerfield’s air-conditioned gym. Both the players and fans were appreciative! The Varsity team plays again this weekend at the Crosstown Classic @Warren H.S. Almond Campus. Go Mustangs!
Coaches Corner - Girls Golf
Submitted by Coach Kuhn
The Lady Mustang Varsity Golfers earned their first victory of the season, defeating Wauconda by 4 strokes. Seniors Kate Niemann & Abbie Shifley led the way with personal best scores for 9 holes. They also competed in the Lake County Invite at Bittersweet Golf Course in Gurnee. Junior Olivia Williams shot her career low for 18 holes to lead the Lady Mustangs. Senior Mia Field also contributed to the scoring, shooting her best round of the season. This Saturday the team will compete at the D117 Invite at Spring Valley Golf Course in Salem, WI.
Coaches Corner - Boys Soccer
Submitted by Coach Dayton
The varsity team recently visited the Barrington Park District where they participated in a challenge course which forced the boys to communicate and bond as a team. Coach Falinski said of the event, "This is the type of thing that gives the boys the chance to grow into lifelong friends. We also hope it helps us win a few ballgames as well."
Coaches Corner - Girls Cross Country
Submitted by Coach Rodriguez
It's been an awesome start to the season as we've seen our numbers double since the first day of practice and every runner, regardless of their experience, has been giving their all, improving, and supporting each other every day!
