Congratulations Solo and Ensemble Participants!
Students participating in solo and ensemble are required to learn and perform a piece of music in front of a judge. The judge then gives the performance a rating, from 1 to 4. A rating of 1 signifies an excellent performance.
Learning a solo like this takes months of preparation on the part of the student. It also takes confidence to get up alone and perform.
Congratulations to Eileen English, performing 2 solos, one on voice and one on piano. Also congratulations to Marco Marchiando, who also performed 2 solos, one on snare drum and one on drum set.
All of these performances received a 1, or excellent rating from their judges. Praise the Lord for their musical gifts, and their willingness to develop those skills.
School Calendar Updates
Both the state and Archdiocese require that we maintain a set number of instructional hours each school year. As a result of our five snow days this year, we need to make up two full days of school. School will be in session on Monday, April 22 for a regular full day and the last day of school has been moved to June 13 but remains a 12:30 release. Eighth grade graduation has also been pushed back one day to June 12. Should we have additional days off this winter, we will look the calendar and make adjustments as necessary. Thank you.

Mardi Gras for Children and Families on March 5
Please Register by Feb. 28
Mardi Gras is a fun evening for children in our Northside Faith Formation classes, Seton School, and our parishes, and their families and friends. It is hosted by the Northside Faith Formation Committee. It is on Tuesday, March 5th from 6:00-7:30. Meet in St. Dominic Church for our opening. Learn about Mardi Gras and Lent. Burn last year’s palms to make ashes. Activities will take place in the St. Dominic PAC.
Play games and win prizes. Make some Lent and Mardi Gras crafts. Enjoy nachos, hot dogs, and cupcakes. First through fifth graders can come alone or with their families or friends. Younger children can attend with a parent or student in fifth grade on up. This event is free. Middle and high school students and adults are needed to help. Call Edie at the Faith Formation office at 458-5390 or email morrisone@catholicnorth.org by Feb. 28 to register to participate so we know how much food to have ready. Also, contact Edie if you can help during the event or the night before to set up.
