Principal Message
Parents,
This week, we were collecting March of Dimes donations. Mrs. Sensat, Counselor, came up with a creative way to encourage us to donate by making it a competition. Who will be dressing like a baby? Well, thanks to my sweet students, we raised a couple of hundred dollars for March of Dimes, and they filled my jar! It was a fun day being Baby Bailey.
We also had a great time with our first graders and their fantastic floats. Way to end the week! Happy Fiesta!
As we begin to wrap of the last 6 weeks of school, please take time to check out your child's library and cafeteria accounts to clear any balances.
Thank you for your support, and We hope that you had a wonderful weekend.
Thank you,
Tara Bailey

Pencilmania Follow Up
Tuscany Heights 3rd Graders Donate $426.80 to Charity!
Tuscany Heights third graders were business owners for one day, they all created a pencil business. The annual event is called “Pencilmania” and students bring in decorated pencils to sell to the second, fourth and fifth grade students. Third grade teachers had just completed teaching a unit in math on personal finance and a unit in social studies on economics. Students learned all about business such as advertising, expenses, profit, loss, supply and demand. They also learned about what to do with their money such as paying for supplies, spending it, having the option to save money or to be charitable and donate it.
This year, we gave students the option to donate a portion of their business money to a non-profit organization, the Bulverde Area Humane Society. A representative from the society, Mr. Tom, came and talked to the students about the work they do to care for injured animals and how they get dogs and cats adopted. We had an overwhelming response from our students, and they donated a total of $426.80 from the money made selling pencils to care for these animals.
We couldn’t be more proud of our students! First of all, they learned the concept of business ownership at a young age. Second of all, they learned how to be charitable to help a very worthy cause in our local area.

The Tuscany Heights Elementary PTA is asking all of our students and families to help us show our AWESOME teachers and staff how much we appreciate them during the week of May 1st! Below are some fun ways that our students, no matter what grade, can participate in this fun week for our amazing teachers. Please feel free to participate in one or all of our planned activities, or come up with your own creative way to “appreciate” our teachers and staff.

Wednesday May 3 - Specials Day
Bring in a special treat/snack, school supply item OR handmade card for your specials teachers!
Thursday May 4 - Tell A Joke
Let’s make our teachers smile! Think of your favorite school appropriate joke or riddle and tell it to your teacher on Thursday.
Friday May 5 - Dinner And A Movie
Let’s treat our teachers to dinner and a movie! Bring in gift cards (in any amount up to $25) for restaurants, movie theaters, or Red Box movie rentals, or you could send in a box of candy, bags of popcorn, popcorn seasonings, fun popcorn bowls, items to help with cooking a fun dinner, etc. Room Reps will be providing a bucket or bag for the students to place their items in when they get to school.

Warmer weather = Overflowing Lost and Found
Parents, as the weather warms up we find lots of sweaters and jackets around the school with no name on them – they end up in lost and found and it is OVERflowing! Help us out by checking closets and then sending your students on a mission to find what is lost and bring it home! ALL items will be donated to the NEISD Clothes Closet at the end of the semester.
