Hawk Highlights
December 1, 2021
Dear Families and Friends of the Hollys,
Welcome to December! The bustling holiday season is upon us. As we celebrate the holiday season and count down to the new year, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to our students, employees and families. This year has been particularly challenging, but it has also shown us the power of community. Together, we have persevered. This holiday season, we wish you and your family moments of peace, health, and much happiness. No matter what 2022 brings, we remain committed to providing a world class education for all children and to safeguarding the health and well being of our entire community.
Last week, I paused to reflect on all things for which I am grateful. My heart is bursting with gratitude for parent and community partnerships at the Hollys. Productive partnerships are essential to the success of our children. We appreciated full participation in parent/teacher conferences. You have always been your child’s first teacher and you have adapted to quickly changing information, helped your children adjust to new safety protocols, and extended grace and patience to teachers and school staff as we’ve all navigated the new normal together. You’ve also continued the often unsung, but always important, work of keeping your child learning – from reading before bedtime and helping with homework to exploring the outdoors.
I also want to acknowledge the amazing efforts of our Parent Teacher Community Organization (PTCO) leaders and helping hands. I am overwhelmed by the success of every effort to bring our community together to promote joy and inclusivity. They are also committed to supporting events and initiatives to improve the educational experience of our students. Here are just a few accomplishments of the PTCO this school year:
- Chalking the walk with happy messaging to start the year
- Honoring the Hollys staff through breakfast, lunch, dinner and sweet treats
- Fundraising and promoting community connection through the food truck event with live music and games
- Fundraising through special events like the bike cruiser event and multiple restaurant nights
- Bringing us together to learn about and celebrate Dia de los Muertos
- Locating a special donor who is funding field trips for first grade to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, second grade to the Plains Conservation Center and fifth grade to Young Ameritowne
- The PTCO has already funded teaching and learning resources, classroom libraries, school supplies, playground equipment, regulation tools, art supplies, flexible seating furniture and so much more
I believe wholeheartedly that when schools and families work in true partnership, our children succeed at new levels. Thank you, families, for all you’ve done to support our students and staff this year. Your role is more important than it has ever been, and nothing we do as educators could be accomplished without you.
With gratitude,
Molly Drvenkar
Principal
