We will be sending over 100 runners to the Regional Cross Country Race on Wednesday - it will be exciting for these athletes to test themselves and see their hard work pay off.
Last week our intermediate students enjoyed their first field trip downtown with a historical walking tour of Kingston, let by former Lancaster teacher Dave Wilkins. Students journeyed throughout the downtown area taking detailed notes and observations of different landmarks in the city. Junior students enjoyed a visit from Kingston Transit and a bus ride on Kingston's first electric city bus. Primary and Kindergarten students have also been venturing outside for learning opportunities - moving their bodies to learn gross motor skills and engaging with nature. We have been fortunate to have weather on our side despite some rainy days this fall.
Our second school council meeting will take place this week on Tuesday, Oct 12th at 6:30. School Councils provide a forum through which parents and other members of school communities can contribute to improving student achievement and well-being and enhance the accountability of the education system. The school values the role and contribution of our School Council members and their commitment to help boost parent involvement and serve as an ongoing mechanism for effective two-way communication and consultation between the school and the school community. All parents are welcome at every meeting. To get this month's meeting link, or if you have any questions or concerns to bring forward, feel free to contact firstname.lastname@example.org
TERRY FOX UPDATE:
Our Terry Fox tally is in! Online donations raised $1225 and Toonies for Terry $833.45 - a grand total of $2058.45. Great job Lions and thank you to our school community for supporting this event and the Canadian Cancer Society.
Looking forward to another great week of learning and growing at Lancaster!
Your leaders in learning,
Lani Fox and Sara O'Hearn

MILK AND HOT LUNCH
Milk orders have been sent out to families via a School Day email. Signing up through this online portal will allow your child to receive milk daily from Tuesday, October 12 until the start of the Holiday Break in December. Milk is delivered daily to classrooms at the start of second nutrition break. As this program is a fundraiser for the school and it is coordinated by a Grade 6 class, on days when students are absent, no refund is provided and milk is not saved for the student. Hot Lunch orders are being organized and should be sent out later in October.
