Mayor for a Day
The Mayor is excited to announce the 2022-2023 Mayor for a Day contest, which aims to foster and encourage leadership in young people living in San Diego. Interested K-12 students living in the city of San Diego are invited to write an essay or submit a video about what San Diego would be like if they were Mayor for a day.
The selected winner will be given the opportunity to shadow Mayor Gloria for a day to see how the City works up close -- and will play a role in the State of the City address this January. The deadline is December 5th, 2022 at 11:59pm.
If you have any questions about the contest, please email Community Representative Emily Piatanesi at Epiatanesi@sandiego.gov.

Academic Calendar '22--23
Families, please bookmark this calendar as a reference for the 2022-2023 academic year. It shares what national holidays and District observed breaks we adhere to at Linda Vista.
Recently, the Board of Education passed the instructional calendars for '23-'24 and '24-'25.
You'll note that for the '23-'24 academic year the first day of school is Monday, August 21st and for the '24-'25 the first day of school is Monday, August 12th.
This academic year teachers we will continue to utilize ClassDojo as a means of communication. Here's a link that will connect you with your child's teacher.
Drop-off & Pick-up
We want to thank all of our families who are exhibiting enormous caution when dropping-off and picking-up student during the first week of school. As a safety reminder, please refrain from double-parking when dropping-off and picking-up your child. Double-parking is prohibited by the City of San Diego and has the potential to be extremely dangerous for not only surrounding cars, but students as well. Additionally, please continue to not park in our neighbors driveways and instead please continue to allot additional time to find parking on our surrounding streets.
