Tchaikovsky's Life
Piotr Ilych Tchaikovsky was born in Votkinsk, Russia in the year 1840. Tchaikovsky loved his parents. His mother influenced him to like music. He was a shy, and sensitive child that lasted his whole life. When Piotr was 10 he went to boarding school. It was one of the hardest things he ever had to do. When he had to say goodbye to his mother he attached himself to her carriage so he would not leave her. Tchaikovsky was 14 when his mother died. It was again one of the hardest things that had ever happen to him and he never really recovered from it. When Piotr got older he had a strange friendship with a woman named Nadezhda von Meck, a wealthy widow. From then on until 8 years he was funded by her. They shared each others schedules so they would not meet each other in real life. Piotr later wrote some of the greatest music of all time, including the nutcracker, and the 1812 overture.
