The Asturias Region borders the northern coast of Spain on the Bay of Biscay. The Picos de Europa Mountains are on the south of the region. It has cooler climate with lots of rainfall. Asturias is generally known for seafood, apple cider, and seafood. Asturias is referred to as “El Pais De Los Quesos” or the land of cheeses because there is a large selection of cheese.

A well-known dish is called Arroz Con Leche which translates to rice with milk. It is a sweet pudding made of rice and milk and it usually has a burnt crust.

One of the most famous dishes is called Caldereta Asturiana. It is a fish stew consisting of varied types of fresh seafood, white wine, onions, and parsley.
