Pratt's Primary Corner

Weekly Update- October 6, 2017

Week at a Glance

Reading- We introduced newsela this week. More information on this will be coming home soon! We've been very focused on informational text, but have still been discussing fiction daily with our interactive read alouds. We are currently reading The Witches by Roald Dahl.

Math- We have been doing some awesome exploratory learning with unit 2. Yesterday & today we had to use one object to determine the length of other objects in a picture. Students productively struggled through the lesson in the beginning, but eventually all caught on and were very successful. It was awesome seeing some light bulbs go off. :)

Social Studies- On Monday we will finish up our treasure maps! Information about our year-long Flat Stanley project is coming home in your child's red folder, today.

Science- Next week we will begin our matter unit!! We have a fun experiment planned for next Friday! :)

Click here to see the homework menu for the week. You only have to chose one activity from each column. Remember, it's not due until next Friday and the Design Challenge is optional.

Please Help!

We need your help gathering some items for our science unit next week. If you have any newspapers or kid friendly magazines at home, could you please send those in for us to keep. We will use them to cut out pictures of different states of matter.

Also, we are looking for some items for an experiment we have planned next week. If you are willing to send in any of these items by Wednesday, October 11th, please sign up through this link:
