The CMS Scoop
The Best Middle School in the Universe!
Volume 14, Number 16 - March 23, 2020
Week of March 23rd
CMS Families,
This past week has been a very unusual week. We are embarking on unprecedented times and things seem to change daily and sometimes hourly. There is a great deal of uncertainty in our nation and our world.
However, I can tell you some things that have not changed and that will remain the same. Our CMS faculty and staff love you all and love our kids. All this week, staff reached out to me super concerned about how much they were going to miss those adorable faces on Monday. They love our kids. Our CMS faculty and staff want the best for our kids. They work at CMS because they love teaching and want to help inspire and teach all our kids. They will work to make sure our kids get what they need. Our CMS faculty and staff are here to help you during this time. We are all in this together. CMS will help in any capacity we can. There will be alot of grace and patience during this time. But together we can do anything. #familia
I know you all have seen all those memes about parents teaching their kids at home. They have provided much laughter here in our household. It's definitely a time of learning for everyone and a great deal of patience. There is a reason why I do not stay home with a 3 1/2 year old! Just remember that in the next couple of weeks - go slow to go fast. This is what I've told our staff. We are all learning how to do this so we will go slow to roll things out so that we all get accustomed to this new "virtual" schooling.
I know you all received the update for our Superintendent about the roll out. See the link below as a reminder.

Our staff will be posting assignments for this week via google classroom before the end of the day tomorrow. This will be work for the week. They will then be reaching out according to the plan above.
Please also utilize the Meals to go provided by the district. As it gets difficult to go to the store, please utilize this service! Our middle school kids eat a TON and any little bit helps. Remember this is for ALL kids and they must be in the car to receive a meal.
Please remember to stay home and stay safe. Practice social distancing if you have to leave the house and wash your hands and don't touch your face.
Aside from all the "academic learning" that you will see, please also stay tuned for lessons on our 7 mindsets - our social emotional learning component at CMS. One of the most important aspects during this time (in my mind) is our mental health. We need to be very much aware of our own mental health and the mental health of our kids. Many of us are probably social butterflies. We enjoy people and enjoy company. We are in the people business. Middle school kids are the same way. You will see a weekly lesson on social emotional learning as well. Remember to take time to take care of each other.
We are all working virtually. We have laptops and are checking email all day, so please feel free to email any of us for questions. We are here for you.
Take care and know that we love our CMS Families!!!
