TUSD Robotics is gearing up for our upcoming tournaments and is in need of volunteers to help with set up, breakdown, judging, refereeing, and checking in teams. Please click on the link below if you are able to volunteer your time for any of the events listed below.

Calling All Volunteers!

Foothill and Orchard Hills Host Official Tournaments

Mr. Jeff Farr (Foothill HS Robotics Coach) and Mrs. Megan Lund (Orchard Hills MS Robotics Coach) have become official VEX Event Partners and hosted their first tournaments in November. The students and parents filled the vital volunteer roles and all proceeds are helping to support and sustain these world-class robotics programs. Beckman hosted two tournaments at the start of the season and all three schools combined have a total of 11 teams currently qualified to compete in the California State Championships. These fundraising efforts will help to provide equipment and transportation as they all reach to attain their tickets to the World Championships once again!

Getting Ready for the TUSD Tournaments

Each team is in the final weeks of preparation for the upcoming January and February tournaments as shown with the Hewes Middle School teams pictured to the left. This is the time when students begin to understand that time is a very valuable resource as well as a limiting constraint in the engineering design process. Most teams are now concentrating on programming their robots as their final robot design solutions are becoming more clear. Good luck to all of the students and coaches. You've got this!

TUSD Robotics Celebrates Computer Science Education Week!

TUSD Robotics Celebrates Computer Science Education Week!

This week, students around the world are celebrating CS Education Week with the Hour of Code. TUSD Robotics students are beginning to focus on the coding skills associated with the VEX and VEX IQ competitions. Below are the two resources to help teams better understand the rules for "Robot Skills". This is a competition that takes place on the side at tournaments. Teams need to look at their match schedule and find a break where they can head over to the Robot Skills field and participate in a DRIVING task and a PROGRAMMING task. Each team has three attempts at DRIVING and three attempts at PROGRAMMING. The highest score from each of these attempts is added together for the Robot Skills total score.
