Principal's Corner
Dear Montclair Families,
As we enter into the last weeks of 2023, we encourage our families to send their children to school every day before winter break! Every day counts! Keep an eye on the weather for cool temperatures. It's coat, hat and glove season! Missing a jacket? Our lost and found is in the cafeteria. Feel free to sign in and take a look.
With the onset of cooler weather, we prepare for virtual learning in case of a code orange. Your student should bring school devices home on a routine basis. Please reach out to your child's classroom teacher with any questions about devices traveling home and back to school. A good practice is to plug in your child's school-device overnight for a full charge and then slip into the backpack with the power cord for school use.
Montclair PTCO and the Student Council is hosting a Canned Food Drive for the holiday season! Canned goods can be dropped off in the main hallway this week. Our goal is 1000 cans!
Lastly, for those interested, sign up for a virtual session on December 7 to learn more about the PWCS Gifted services available to students in grades K-12. Click here for registration.

Digital Device Handbook
As devices go home it is crucial that care and responsibility are used. Please take a moment to look at the Digital Device Handbook.
It is very important that devices are returned to school each day. Not having your device at school will not be an excuse for not participating in class or completing assignments. An alternative paper pencil task will be provided. Montclair does not have "extra" devices to loan students when a device is forgotten. the ipads
*Please keep food and water away from all devices.
*Please carry devices with 2 hands.
*Please do not leave device on the floor.
*Please close up device when not in use.
*When traveling to and from school, devices should be powered off.
Office News
Parents, guardians and family members,
Please remember that out of an abundance of caution, PWCS schools require an ID check before releasing students to leave school. Bring your ID, if you are picking up from the main office, the clinic or for car riders (if you forget your dashboard number sign). Our aim is to keep our students safe! Thank you for your cooperation.
Effective Nov. 1, the last early pick up from the office will be at 3:10. Should you arrive after this time, you will be asked to pick up your child as a walker when students dismiss.
Tutoring Opportunities
Montclair Elementary school is currently recruiting tutors for part time hourly pay for three days a week. Tutors would work with small groups during the school day under the direction of a classroom teacher. To apply, visit this link:

Read, Read, Read
Books make great gifts! If you are looking for recommendations, check out the Virginia State Literacy Association (VSLA) website for this year’s Virginia Readers’ Choice winners. Each year the VSLA sponsors a contest to encourage young readers to broaden students’ awareness of literature as a life-long pleasure. In the Spring, students throughout Virginia vote on the nominated books and the winners are announced. Click the links to see this year's winners and the 2022-2023 winners. Happy Reading!
Montclair PTCO
The holidays are here and there is no better time to show our appreciation to our students' teachers! Though cards, drawings, and words of appreciation are always welcome, PTCO has collected a list of each teacher's "Favorite Things" if you are needing gift inspiration. Find your teachers in the list here: http://montclairptco.ch2v.com/content.asp?PageID=20
In the spirit of giving, PTCO is partnering with the Student Council for Monty's Food Drive, December 4-8, to collect canned and boxed food for the ACTS Food Pantry. Thank you for your generosity!
Mark your calendars to join us for BINGO Night on December 8th in the Montclair cafeteria! Bingo cards will be sold, 5 for $10, along with Spirit socks and concessions. Any canned goods brought to the event will be entered into a special raffle. Watch for the flyer in your students' backpack for all the details.
THANK YOU to all Montclair families who participated in our October Spirit Night at the All American Steakhouse. We raised over $800 for our school!
