Tips From the Top!
LiiNK students having fun exploring in the cold weather
Winter Recess Reminders
LiiNK campuses have adopted weather policies according to the CDC and the National Weather Service. Remember, being outside in a variety of weather conditions boosts the immune system to help ward off illness not to mention the calming benefits of being outdoors! We will only go outside when it is safe to do so. See the picture below for more details, and don't forget to send your child with some gear for the cold weather if they have it!
Positive Action... in Action!
The outdoor, unstructured play part of LiiNK is exciting, fun, and a necessary component to children's overall development. However, LiiNK is more than just recess, and sometimes the character curriculum piece is not talked about as much. If you haven't already, read the Tips from the Top (above), to understand why Positive Action is paramount to your child's emotional, social, and academic success at school.
A parent and LiiNK Teacher shared the below photos of her daughter, a LiiNK student, and the following story.
"The first week of school she wanted to play school at the house. Did she stand up and talk to me? No. She went right outside. That was her playing 'school'.
She was so proud of herself for conquering the monkey bars during recess a few months ago that for the 100th day of school she went across bars 100 times and recorded each and every time on paper.
Yesterday morning after Sunday breakfast she went to get her stool and started washing the dishes without being asked at all. Just wanted to help out.
When she had trouble reaching a rope at my dad's house she did not ask for someone to pick her up and help her. She's stacked logs up to get it because, 'That is what she does at school.' Problem-solves!"
