Let's Celebrate the Harvest!
SLCSD-Farm to School Initiative
- Food tastes better when it's fresh. When fruits and veggies are tastier, we are more likely to eat them! And so...
- We are healthier! We feel healthy. Our bodies are healthy. We can learn better when we feel better.
- When foods taste better, we become open minded to new taste experiences. New ways of eating also open us up to new cultures and food traditions, new people too!
- Buying locally grown food helps our local economy. The farmers are our neighbors just like any other neighbor.
- We get to go outside and play in the dirt in the garden!
- We get to learn how to grow and cook these foods. Life skills that can you can have forever!
- Everyone deserves good food. School is working hard to provide healthy food to all children.

A BLIZZARD of books is coming our way! The whole school is excited about our upcoming breezy Arctic Adventure Book Fair.
Our fair will begin before the week before our Thanksgiving holiday and it’s a good place to work on some holiday shopping while supporting our school libraries! Check out the dates and times listed below, and mark your calendar for our Parent Event on Monday November 25th when the fair will be open all day and night during our Parent Teacher Conferences. It will be open for parents during conferences on Tuesday the 26th as well. Don’t miss the Quarter Drop for Charities challenge where you can win prizes and donate to a good cause (books for kids in need!).
Check out the link to the Book Fair at https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/saranaclake.
Online shopping is available from 11/13 thru 11/26. Pay with eWallet, cash, or credit cards. We will not be accepting personal checks.
