Keller University

If you haven't already done so, check out the catalog so you can see all the amazing PD opportunities this summer. Keller University is scheduled from July 20 - 23. Sign up now for all of your sessions in Eduphoria Workshop.

I have also added a link to the catalog on the KHES collaboration page. Check it out in announcements.

The 2014-2015 KHES yearbooks will be delivered on Monday. The 4th graders who were on the yearbook committee will help deliver the yearbooks to homeroom classrooms sometime after lunch. If you would please ensure that each child that has a yearbook has their name written on them.

There will be a few soft-back yearbooks for sale for $20.00 on Thursday. These will be "first come first serve". If there are any questions about a yearbook order, please have parents contact our PTA Yearbook volunteer coordinator, Staci Ragsdale at stacirags@gmail.com

Everyone must drop off all out of adoption textbooks this week into our Gaylord boxes, just outside the book room door. You must also bring all textbooks, TPRI kits, etc. to the book room as well so that Jane can prepare for our end of the year textbook inventory.

Please help us so that we do not have to pay for missing or lost textbooks! This comes directly from our campus budget.

A Message from Nurse Rhonda

Please be sure and remind your parents to stop by the clinic to pick up any medications and/or supplies that may have been at school. Any medications not picked up by the end of the day on June 5 will be properly disposed.

Preparing to Leave

As you prepare to leave on Friday, please be sure and use the End of Year Checklist. Please do NOT place unwanted furniture in the hallways. We do not have any place to store these items. If you have any Netbooks that are no longer working, you can bring these to my office. I have a box already set up so we can give these to "salvage."

Don't forget to clean out any items that you may have left in the refrigerator in the lounge, Science lab or PD room.

Remind Subscribers

Be sure and invite your families to receive messages via text for important summer reminders. They can text @kellerha to 81010. If you have a family who is not returning and they have already been receiving text messages, they can opt out of messages at anytime by replying, 'unsubscribe @kellerha'. Trouble using 81010? Try texting @kellerha to (817) 591-2543 instead.

2015-2016 School Year ~ What's Happening or What's New?

Our Focus Goals

The 2015-2016 school year brings lots of new initiatives and changes.

  • We will all be experiencing a new evaluation system, T-Tess for teachers and T-Pess for administrators.
  • As a campus, we will learn more about the new ELA/SS curriculum and get to know a whole new set of resources for Social Studies.
  • Our big campus push next year will be in the area of Guided Reading, Writing and Student Relevance.
  • We will be taking full advantage of our Literacy Trainer, Kelly Leach so that she can help us refine our processes and practices in ELA.
  • We will be meeting more regularly during your planning period to discuss the needs and interventions of your students. We want to be more proactive instead of reactive.
  • You will have a 50 minute conference period next school year. We will also have a 45 minute Flex, or Cowboy Time to help in scheduling pull-outs and for you to provide Tier 2 interventions. The latest survey showed that out of 28 people that voted, 17 wanted a 50 minute conference period and 11 wanted a 60 minute conference period.

T-Tess is the new teacher evaluation system we will be using next school year. Jane and I will be attending a training the second week of June to find out all of the specifics. Here a are just a few facts that I already know about T-Tess.

  • There will be no waivers for the 2015-2016 school year. All teachers & certified staff will have a formal observation next school year.
  • All certified staff will have to schedule a pre-observation and post-observation conference. This is in addition to the actual observation.
  • Jane and I will more than likely do all of our conferences together next school year.
