Bobcat Bulletin
October 19, 2015
Dear Staff,
We have a few big things on the horizon:
This week: 2-6th grade CELDT
Next Week: Red Ribbon Week dress up days and Fall Festival
First week in November (Nov 3) District Walk-Through
During our Leadership meeting last week we had a request to send out the Bobcat Bulletin on Wednesday for sharing at PLC. I agreed, however thought you might still want it Monday to look at the weeks activities. I will send it out on Monday and you can discuss it at PLC on Wednesdays.
Leader and Me ties nicely into student lead community service (PROWL). We already have so many going on lets tie them together. It would be nice to package some of these we already do with more of a student leadership opportunity. Hence...Killing two birds with one stone. I will list out what I have and what we need a grade level to take on. Is there anything else that happens during the year that can be a natural, built in PROWL/LIM project?
Already going on:
3rd-Fall Festival
5th-Recycling and Can Food Drive
6th-Red Ribbon Week
We have these events coming up that I can think of:
Holiday/Christmas event/Toy drive
Valentines Dance
Read Across America
Don Dornan
Staff Appreciation Week
Volunteer Tea
Others ???
K, 1st, 2nd, and 4th will you see which one has your grade level name on it and email me?
Fondly,
Stephenie

Habit # 2 Focus:
This is a good one for all of us when lesson planning for ELA/Math, planning a common assessment, working on a Meet the Masters lesson, using the Chormebooks or planning for CELDT.
As we learned last week, it first begins with an idea (habit 2) then it becomes an action by putting first things first (habit 3).
How are WIGS coming?
Instructional Focus:
Proactive Behavior Management: halls and 4 S lines are working really well. Thank you for your assistance after-school with dismissal. You being out and about (visible and available) really helps with students self-control at dismissal.
Writing:Loads of good writing this past week. Students are creating graphic organizers in journals, authentic writing in student made flip books, and on a good 'ole piece of white paper. Love it!
Refinement-
Intentional Seat Work: When planning and prepping for the "you do" practice or seat work during centers, challenge yourself to create/find tasks that are at the Depth of Knowledge level 2 or 3. It's difficult but will support critical thinking and deep understanding of the concept.
