Sehome High School Mariner Memo
Week of Nov. 9 - Nov. 13
The month of November always brings with it a feeling of gratitude and an opportunity to reflect on the many things we have to be thankful for, even during challenging times.
One group that I am particularly thankful for this week is our Sehome PTSA. This group of ladies worked tirelessly to find creative ways to raise money for our students. As you will see in the message below, they managed to raise over $11,000 through the giving campaign. Our PTSA has also consistently provided us with parent volunteers every single time we have put out a request. We could never have gotten all of the supplies ready and out to families without their help. I feel so incredibly blessed and thankful for each one of you have shown up to support our Sehome community in so many ways. This week Tuesday, our PTSA will have a general meeting. Please consider being a part of this group in whatever ways works best for you and your family.
Tuesday is the last day of our 5-8 period rotation. There is no school on Wednesday as we pause to honor our veterans. On Thursday, students will resume their 1-4 period classes. It is hard to believe that we have a quarter of the school year behind us. Progress report grades will be posted to Skyward on Thursday, November 19.
- Students pause their 5-8 classes with our first cycle on Tuesday, November 10th and their current grades in the classes will also pause until they return to those classes on December 16.
Students are encouraged to touch base with teachers this week if there are questions or concerns about what is reported in the grade book.
- The grades in the gradebook on November 19 will be an accurate indication of their current progress in their 5-8th period classes.
- Students are highly encouraged to focus on classes 1-4 only during the next cycle.
When students return to classes 5-8 on December 16, teaching and learning will resume. Depending on the nature/structure of each course, students may or may not be revisiting or revising work from the first session. Teachers will communicate with students about ways to improve and demonstrate growth to ensure a successful finish to the semester.
We are also continuing to bring more and more students into the building and on campus each week through our Internet Cafe, special programs, athletics, and for working on specific classes. It is SO good to have students back in the building. It brings such energy, life, laughter, and joy. We are hopeful that we will continue to increase the number of students as it is safe to do so.
I hope that each of you has an incredible week where you find new areas of gratitude and things that bring you deep joy.

All WECU Locations, with the exception of Bellis Fair, The Home Loan Center, and the Business Loan Center are participating as drop-off spots for letter writers. WECU is requesting letter writers to use the Night Drop. Letter writers are asked to put the card/letter in an envelope with “Dear Friend, Pen Pal Project” written on top. If you would like to participate, please do! Make a card, write a letter with a child, create art, or just say "hi."
