Assuring learning excellence and readiness for a changing world.

Good News!

Good News! Our COVID numbers are going the right direction...down. If school started today, we would be doing the Hybrid Safe Learning Plan. Let's continue to do what we can to keep this moving in the right direction by wearing masks, practicing social distancing, and washing hands!

An announcement will be made on August 21st in regard to which plan we will be starting the school year: in person, hybrid or distance learning.

Census Verification

A family survey is included in the Infinite Campus Census Verification tool allowing families to elect distance learning for the 2020-21 school year. Please note, it is very important for our planning to know how many students will elect this option. We are hoping you will partner with us and complete the Census Verification, including the survey, by August 21. The accuracy of our plan is based on the results of your survey responses, and this information will be significant as we plan for the 2020-21 school year.

One clear message shared by students, teachers, and families was the need for a common online platform used at each level. At the high school, we will be using Moodle, which students will access through the student portal. Regardless of the learning scenario, Moodle will be an increasingly important part of our students' educational experience. Moodle will be the platform used for teaching and learning activities throughout this year, whether we are In-person, Hybrid, or Distance Learning as well as for students who choose the Distance Learning only plan.

Each course will be a stand alone online course, so no matter which plan we are operating under, there will be consistency for the students. Moodle is able to provide synchronous learning activities, as well.

All students should expect to follow their schedule during the school day, whether they be at home or in the building. Teachers may schedule synchronous learning activities, small group work, or other activities that all students should be available for.

Moodle was selected as the preferred LMS for 9-12 grades for the following reasons:

  • It serves as a ‘one stop shop’ for all courses for all students

  • Course content, assignments, and assessments are accessible in self-paced, autonomous, asynchronous, and synchronous manners

  • Deeper and more complex interactive learning activity capabilities while still allowing use of familiar tools

  • Integration with Google Assignments

  • Moodle is inherently ADA compliant so students who need special services to access resources are able to do so

  • Self-grading quizzes and tasks that students can retake at their own pace and learning style to assure foundational knowledge

  • Rich general and individual feedback options

  • Family access to student course content and data, yet meets compliant data privacy requirements

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the questions that have been asked recently:

If I choose to do Distance Learning only, can I change my mind?

Yes, at the high school level you will be able to make the change easily, as all teaching and learning activities, assignments, and assessments will be in the moodle course. Students choosing the Distance Learning only model will follow their schedule of courses, just as they would during a normal school year.

If students are switching classes each hour, will desks be disinfected between each class?

Yes, desks will be disinfected during passing time between each class.

When can I see my schedule?

Student schedules will be available in the student portal beginning August 24th.
