A Message From our Director-August 2021
Hello Chapter P! Well, we’re going into the hottest time of the year so hope you are staying cool! Suggest you go out and ride early. We had a great morning ride last Saturday for breakfast at Granny’s in Dublin! It was nice and cool until we got close to home. We will be having our August meeting at Spring Creek Thursday, 8/12 at 7:00 pm, but come early and eat! We will be discussing plans for a get together at our place on August 21st.
In this paragraph, I would like to talk about how important our local chapters are. Chapters E in Wichita Falls & Z in Pasadena have recently shut down from non-participation. I bet if you could go and talk to the members where their chapters have closed down, they would probably say they wished the situation was handled differently. We get used to things just happening, and assuming it will always be there. Some of us are attempting to add two new chapters in the Tyler and Abilene areas. We will see how many participants are excited about this and want to move forward. If any of you would like to help us with this, contact me at 713-859-6589 cell. I, as a chapter director, would much rather see chapters growing than folding. I am hoping to have a great attendance at our chapter gathering this Thursday.
As we said in our article last month, there have been a lot of new changes to District and we need to support them all because, they are volunteering to help us. We need to remember that.!!! Thanks to them all!!!
Our new website is now active, at www.gwrra-tx-p.org with the calendar, newsletter and everything! Yahoo! We could really use a webmaster, so if you have some website experience, please give us a call! Nothing big required, just loading on the newsletter and pictures!
Again, our thanks go out to Ann Graham for doing our newsletter! She does need input from us all, if you think of an interesting subject, please write it up and send it to her at anniegraham@att.net. Thanks to Jeff Graham for stepping up and taking the position of Treasurer, he’s doing a great job! Also thanks to Eddie & Christi for planning rides and Membership Enhancement! We have other positions to fill if you are interested, i.e. Assistant CD, webmaster, and sunshine person. Thanks to all for your participation!
We hope you are staying well and safe! Get out and ride!
Chapter P Director (Texas)

"Why ain't we Ridin"
It's August already so where did the year go? Well at least we are getting some good riding in. Here are our past rides for the last month:
July 15th we did a Dinner Ride to Brazos River Catfish Cafe. It was a bit warm that evening so we just used the Interstate to get there and return. Even with that being said we had an awesome ride. We had 9 Wings and 15 Wingers.
July 24th we had a Lunch Ride to Meat and Potatoes Cafe in Rio Vista. There were 8 bikes and 14 Wingers and we rode some great back roads to get there. After lunch we took some more back roads to Godley for some DQ ice cream for dessert.
July 31st we had a Breakfast Ride to Granny Clark's Restaurant in Dublin. We took as many back roads there and back as I could find. We had 4 Wings and 8 Wingers on that ride.
Thanx a bunch for the awesome participation on our Chapter rides the last few months. As you guys should know by now, "I just wanna ride". If any one has a destination or suggestion in mind for a ride just please let me know. I ride for me and Christie but I plan these for you guys! All that being said, here are the Rides planned for next month:
August 13th we have a Lunch Ride planned to Mary's in Strawn. This is a Friday ride because I'm hoping to bypass the huge crowd that is usually there on Saturdays. KSU is from RaceTrac on South Morgan in Granbury at 10AM.
August 28th we have a Dinner Ride to Big Kup Eatery in Glen Rose. KSU is from the RaceTrac on South Morgan in Granbury at 6PM.
September 4th we have a Lunch Ride to Purple Goat in Stephenville. KSU is from RaceTrac on South Morgan in Granbury at 11AM.
Lastly is a heads up about an opportunity to ride to and attend the Oklahoma District Rally which is Sept 16-18th in Muskogee. Our plans are to leave on Wednesday morning the 15th and return on Sunday the 19th. I know of a few of us that are going to this Fun Rally, so if any one else wants to go with us then let me know and I'll keep you in the loop with details.

Out in the West Texas Town of ....

Ride to Big Bend
This October we have a Chapter Ride planned to Big Bend. This email is so that you can put it on your personal calendar and reserve your room since this is a popular destination this time of year. Here is a short version of the ride plan for October 4th thru the 8th.

We'll do Ft. Davis, McDonald's Observatory, Prada Marfa near Valentine, Marfa and then the
Marfa lights (if we have clear skies). About 160 miles.
Wednesday
We'll head do the River Road by way of Study Butte, Lajitas, Presidio and back to Alpine.
About 240 miles.

We'll do Big Bend National Park. That route is Marathon, Panther Junction, Rio Grande Village, Chisos Basin Visitor Center, Study Butte and back to Alpine. About 260 smiles.
