FISD Early Childhood School
Where the Adventure Begins...
Happy Friday!
What a wonderful week of learning we've had! I hope you are seeing great things in your child's progress and through your child's class SeeSaw blogs!
Above is a video explaining how school finance works and how it specifically impacts Frisco ISD. This information is so eye-opening, even for those of us working in the district! It really explains where our tax money goes. The frustrating thing is how the state funds students in FISD at a lower rate than other districts and they still recapture some of our funds to send to those other districts. At the end of this short, informative video, it lists dates and locations for upcoming information nights to teach you even more about school finance and what you can do to help fix this broken system! Thank you for taking the time to watch this video. I promise it will be well worth your time!
Yesterday was World Read Aloud day! We have received several precious videos of some of you reading to your children at home. We LOVE that! Please keep it up! The benefits of reading with your child daily are huge and gives truth to the phrase, "Readers are Leaders!" Not only is it precious bonding time between the two of you, but it also instills a love of reading that will take them so far in life. Below are a few pictures! I'd love to share pictures of you all reading with your sweet children on our facebook page. Feel free to email me a picture at ellisme@friscoisd.org and I'll be sure to include it!

ECS FOOD DRIVE COMING SOON!
Our annual Food Drive begins February 12th and goes through the 23rd. We hope you will consider participating by sending non-perishable items to school with your child. We will collect those in each room! More details and suggestions on what to send will be coming soon. These donations go to our local Frisco Food Pantry to help feed families in need that live in our very own community.
I Want to Hear From YOU!
Many of you have posted comments, suggestions or questions on my Parent Padlet. Thank you! It is one of the ways for me to stay connected with you and allows other parents to see your questions. You never know when someone else is wondering the same thing. The cool thing is that it is completely anonymous! So post away and I will be sure to respond.
Just click on this link and you're on your way!

The Counselor's Corner
There is no doubt that a positive attitude will help our students to succeed. So, how do we foster a positive attitude? Teach children to be kind. One study suggests that if a person performs two random acts of kindness each day, these acts help train the brain to be more positive. Kindness can be very important to the person who receives an act of kindness and equally impacts the person who performs the act.
During this month’s guidance lesson, our pre-k students will have an opportunity to learn about kindness. They will participate in an activity which shows the impact of kind words verses unkind words. PPCD classes will continue to use their baby dolls to learn about empathy and kindness. The goal of the lessons is to help our students experience the joy of doing something kind for someone else.
Another great way to support teaching kindness is to involve your child in a community project. It just so happens that ECS is hosting a food drive for Frisco Family Services from February 12-23. Your child can help pull items from your pantry to send to school and do his part to impact our community.
