WHPE February Update
Frigid Temperatures!
HI everyone!
I hate running outside when it is below zero. I just don't do it. So now, with these frigid temperatures, it is even more important to stay physically active. We need to remember this for our students as well. Show them ways to be physically active even when they don't want to or have "good" reasons to not be. It can't just be about going to a gym either, many don't have access. We need to show them what can you do around your house. Check out aps like "You Are Your Own Gym": https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/bodyweight-training-you-are/id416981420?mt=8
Even better, turn them on to the great winter sports that we have in Wisconsin!
Have a great remainder of the winter, only a few short months and it will be summer!
A couple of reminders, February is Heart Month, it is not too late to contact your American Heart Association contact and set up a Jump Rope for Heart/Hoops for Heart event. This benefits your students, community, state and our profession. Don't forget the Hot Topics in Health Education and the Hot Topics in Physical Education happening on March 4th in Onalaska!

Got a beach ball?
This would be an easy activity idea to send home with your students as well - challenge them to do as many as they can over a weekend or during an activity period (recess?). There are more great activity and equipment ideas on the Beactivekids website
