Letter From Executive Director, Jolee Healey
Good Morning Bryan Adams Feeder Family,
Thank you for your service and partnership in serving the students and families from our East Dallas community. It has been an outstanding year of growth with so many accomplishments to celebrate. For our final newsletter, I wanted to highlight just a few of the many accomplishments we achieved this year as a feeder pattern: we developed strong literacy programs, increased volunteerism, increased our college going-culture with colorful college banners, converted Sanger to a PK-8 Dual Language school, and initiated the Bryan Adams High School Leadership Academy. In addition, our students won academic competitions, had winning athletic seasons and increased the amount of scholarships received for the Class of 2015. As a community, we spread our feeder pattern pride with a successful green and white yard sign campaign throughout Cougar Country. It all adds up to an exciting year made possible by the work of countless dedicated and talented people.
I am so proud of our work together and now, after ten years in our feeder pattern, I have accepted a new role. I will be serving as the Executive Director for the ACE “Accelerating Campus Excellence” schools. As many of you know, the ACE initiative is focused on transforming the most struggling schools in our district through strong leadership, effective teachers, and high expectations. This is a call to action to close the achievement gap and ensure all students are equipped to reach their full potential in college and career-readiness. With the support of partnerships with mission-centered professionals and community members, we are ready to change the trajectory of students’ lives through the power of a quality education.
Please know that I consider Cougar Country home and feel honored to have built so many special relationships. I am leaving you in good hands. Jo Anne Hughes, former Reading First Director and Dallas ISD principal, will serve as your new Executive Director. We will both remain working under the leadership of Assistant Superintendent Israel Cordero. Thank you for your relentless dedication to students.
I am confident that our schools will continue to thrive and that the Bryan Adams feeder pattern will truly become the exemplar of college-readiness and community pride and unity.
Go Cougars!
Jolee
Six Dallas ISD teams earn honors at Destination Imagination global finals
Bryan Adams Destination Imagination Team Places 2nd at Globals
For the second year in a row, the Bryan Adams Destination Imagination team was one of the selected DISD teams to advance to the final competition. Last year the team placed 3rd out of 46 teams in their category. This year, the "Literacy Militia" placed 2nd out of 40 teams, making them the highest ranked team in Texas in their category of Project Outreach. Teams from all over the world travel to compete and our students remained tenacious and collaborated effectively in order to gain a great victory! The team members were Julian Carrillo, Alejandro Arteaga, Karen Macias, Anel Quevedo, Gabriel Ortiz, Thomas Jennings, and Daniela Gonzalez.
Congrats, Cougars!

Bryan Adams Celebrates Parents and Volunteers
On the evening of Thursday, May 21, 2015, Bryan Adams hosted a Parent & Volunteer Celebration Dinner, in which active parents and volunteers from the 2014-2015 school year were honored. All attendees received gift bags and certificates, as well as dinner and dessert courtesy of the Bryan Adams Culinary Arts department. A slideshow featuring students and staff holding a "Thank you, volunteers" sign played in the background. Special awards such as "Outstanding Leadership", "Very Involved Parent" and a "Community Service" certificate were awarded by the Bryan Adams Community Liaison, while Communities in Schools (CIS) awarded parents and volunteers with certificates and mini-trophies. Bryan Adams appreciates all of our parents and volunteers!
