Last Week of Book Checkout

The week of May 23rd-27th was the last week of book checkout in the media center. All books should be returned to the library ASAP. Overdue notices have gone out and if you have any lost books, you will need to pay the $20 fee to replace them. Checks should be made out to Rochester Community Schools (RCS). Please email me with any questions or concerns. I am doing inventory so would love to get everything squared away by next week.

Summer Reading

Students are creating "Bucket Lists" for books they want to read this summer. Be sure to ask your children to see their list when they bring them home next week and encourage them to KEEP READING over the break!

There are many ideas for summer reading activities. I will be creating a page on my website with a list of resources. The Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge is a great online program, as well as the The Rochester Hills Public Library's summer reading program, Read for the Win! The kickoff party for the RHPL program will be June 11th at the library.

New Mascot

This summer, follow the adventures of our new media center mascot, Melvil the Mustang! I will post his escapades to my library blog, The Scoop. Be sure to check the blog regularly and don't forget to post comments. All comments are approved by me, Mrs. Luci, before they are posted, so if you don't see your post right away, give it some time to appear.

What's Happening in the Media Center?

5th Grade is wrapping up their book trailers. Not all of them have finished, but I have included a couple here from the students who have. They worked really hard on these and I think it shows! I am going to put these on my website for other students to view for book ideas. How awesome is it that the 5th graders will get to leave this legacy at Musson?! Hopefully they will inspire other Musson students to read these great books!

Other Projects...

4th Grade: Science comics using Storyboard That! (see example below)

3rd Grade: Father's Day comics - coming home next week!

2nd Grade: Experise PowerPoints

K/1: Poetry
