Library Happenings @Bement
Great books, tech tips and noteworthy news
Remembering Martin Luther King, Jr.
As we prepare to celebrate the life of Dr. King on January 20th, the library has plenty of resources to share with your students. Books and videos about Dr. King's life, as well as the broader topic of the Civil Rights movement are currently our featured display. There are many high quality websites of interest, too. The Grace Bement Reading Room is a terrific spot to watch a video, or engage in a website together as a class. We hope you will stop by.
I have a dream
An illustrated picture book of the famous speech. Kadir Nelson's paintings are memorable.
Dear Dr. King: Letters from today's children to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
A collection of letters written to Dr. King by children in Memphis. This book is a great springboard for class discussion.
Martin's big words
A beautifully crafted picture book that uses quotes and mixed-media collage illustrations to share a touching message.
