Elementary Distance Learning Update

4.3.2020

Thank you, Medford Elementary Families!

We are very appreciative of the tremendous amount of work you and your family have done to create learning opportunities for your child at home. We know that this is a big change for all families. Our lessons and opportunities for learning all are intended to provide your child as much normalcy for school time as we can. We know this will look different in every home for every family. Please continue to communicate with me (joshcarlson@medfordtigers.org) or your child's teacher if you would like to visit about ideas. We are here for you.

The teachers have a lot of great ideas to continue to engage your child in learning opportunities like what they would have had at school.

Below is a survey for you to complete. Please take a few moments to provide us with feedback on the week. We want to ask you what is going well and also how we can help you. We will be analyzing the results you provided and work to refine our practice for the upcoming weeks.

Please click the link below to provide us with more feedback as our Medford Elementary staff prepares their lessons.

What if we cannot get everything done?

We understand that you may have a lot going on right now. We are here to help you and your child through this journey. We will continue to provide you with learning opportunities that follow the expectations for each grade.

If you cannot complete everything each week, talk to your child's teacher. It's okay. We want to encourage students to try their best. We wish we could be there face to face to support you and hope to be able to soon. For now, all teachers are prepared to support you remotely or making a specific plan for your child(ren). We understand that every family has different needs and we are here to help you.

SHARE THE POSITIVE THINGS THAT ARE HAPPENING!

Now that we have started our Distance Learning journey, the Medford Elementary staff would love for our families to send us pictures of the awesome things that are happening during this journey in your homes. I ask that you please share photos of the learning experiences that are taking place in your homes (or just any photo you feel would be uplifting) with either your teachers or myself (joshcarlson@medfordtigers.org), and I will be posting these photos on our schools Facebook page. Let's spread the wonderful things that are happening and continue to remain positive during these times. #TigerPride

HOW WILL WE HANDLE SCHOOL ISSUED DEVICES THAT NEED REPAIRS?

Families will complete THIS FORM . (This form is also linked on our school website under the Distance Learning tab "Technology") Once this form is completed, the information will be shared with the proper staff member who will attempt to repair the school issued device (ipad or chromebook) This service will run through our four lunch stops from 11:00-1:00. Families will drop off the device with the para in charge at that time at one of the four lunch stops, sign necessary paperwork and they will bring it back to school for our technology department to take a look at. The drop off and return days will be Mondays and Thursdays. This service is subject to change as we move through our distance learning model.

WHAT WILL KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION LOOK LIKE?

Due to the Executive "Stay at Home" order issued by Governor Walz, the Tuesday April 7th, Kindergarten Registration has been postponed.

It will now take place on Monday April 13th and Tuesday April 14th from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Parents are invited to drop off their child's kindergarten registration packets inside the Medford Elementary entrance. There will be a bin provided marked "Kindergarten Registrations" and the packets may be deposited inside. Any questions or concerns please email Shelley Fitzgerald, elementary secretary at sfitzgerald@medfordtigers.org. Thank You
