Clear Bag Policy for Anderson 5
As part of our ongoing effort to provide a safe and secure school environment for our students and staff, Anderson School District Five will be implementing a clear bag policy for high school and middle school football games. Further adjustments to this policy may be enacted prior to the beginning of winter sports. Prohibited bags include, but are not limited to:
Purses - larger than a clutch bag
Camera cases
Briefcases
Backpacks
Cinch bags
Tinted/printed pattern plastic bags
Diaper bags
Mesh bags
Diapers and other baby supplies can be carried into the stadium in a clear bag. Infant formula, milk, or medicine needing refrigeration is allowed in a small soft-side cooler, and is subject to search at the gate. For additional information, please check out the image below.

Creative Writing Club
The Creative Writing Club is available to 7th and 8th graders starting September 13th! The club will meet on Tuesdays in Miss Paradis's classroom 7:20ish-8:00 am. Students will be working on prompts given to them by Miss Paradis, but they will also have time to work on personal projects. When asked what inspired her to make the club, she said that she wanted all the writers at school to have an outlet to be creative. Miss Paradis is looking forward to seeing how the students perceive different topics.

Cafeteria News
1. Breakfast and lunch is not free for all students this year. We encourage all students to apply for free/reduced meals. Applications are available in the cafeteria, or can be completed online using this link. However, even if a student does not qualify for free/reduced meals, they can always eat breakfast and/or lunch. The charge will go onto their account, and the parent/guardian will be required to pay off this charge as soon as possible.
2. Students can purchase meals and extra sales items with cash, checks deposited onto their account, or funds deposited into their account online. Students cannot purchase extra sales if their account balance is negative. To view your child’s balance or make payments on their account, visit this site. You will need your child’s student account number to create an account/log in and view their meal account.
3. For breakfast and lunch, students are required to take at least 3 items, 1 of which must be a fruit or vegetable choice. There are multiple fruit and veggie choices available daily, and students are encouraged to choose as many of them as they wish!
4. For any questions that students have, we encourage them to come ask us! Our staff is here to help with any of our students’ needs.
Mrs. Hollingsworth's New Classes
This year, Mrs.Hollingsworth is teaching 6th grade GT Math. Her classes are currently reviewing operations with decimals. She said that she really enjoys the challenge of teaching new curriculum. Mrs. Hollingsworth’s goals for this year are to personalize lessons to her students' needs and help increase their math knowledge.
Mrs. Patterson is Planting Seeds
Mrs. Patterson's theme for this year's algebra classroom is growing a great year! Her plant activity allowed her to get to know her students in a variety of ways. This makes her students more open to write about themselves instead of just answering a questionnaire. Some of her own goals for this school year are for her students to have a clear understanding of the algebra standards, and she hopes to be a great source of information for her students. For the first unit, Mrs. Patterson is reviewing 8th grade math foundations.
