Pooled Testing

We are now on the verge of beginning our pooled COVID-19 testing. This free testing option allows us to stay ahead of any COVID cases at the school and to maintain a safer environment for all students.


This process involves taking a nasal swab of a number students and sending them to a local lab for processing. This lab then returns group test results. If one student tests positive within the group, the whole group can be tested again individually in order to determine each students' status. If the whole group tests negative, we know that they are cleared at that point. To keep our promise to keep students and your families safe, we want to initiate this testing as soon as possible.


You should have received an email that looks like the one below last week. Please register your account and give consent. There are more detailed directions below that you can view and download. You will be notified via email of your students' results when they are randomly sampled.

Bus Info

We continue to be in constant communication with Columbus City Schools transportation department. We have been attempting to communicate with you or your student in as timely a manner as possible when we are informed of route changes. Over the last two weeks CCS has informed us on multiple days that they have numerous routes uncovered which means no driver. This is entirely out of our control and so we try to work with you, your student, and CCS to get students home as quickly as possible.


If your student is waiting to be picked up in the morning, and their bus does not come, call 614-365-5074. If the route is not covered, CCS will attempt to get your student to school still.


We know that this situation is very challenging to you and your family. Please know that we share in this. Frequently we are at the school until many hours after the school day is over trying to work on the problem.


Until they fix their driver shortage, we continue to partner with you to ensure that your student gets home in a timely and safe manner.

Quarantine Info

We have had a few students placed on quarantine due to exposure or testing positive for COVID. This is of course concerning and we want to clarify the conditions by which your student will be placed on quarantine.


1. If your student is not vaccinated, they do not wear a mask correctly, and they are exposed, they must quarantine for 10 days.

2. If your student is not vaccinated, they are exposed to someone outside of the school building who tests positive, they must quarantine for 10 days.

3. If any student tests positive, they must quarantine for 10 days.


The best ways to keep your student in school is to ensure that they are vaccinated and if they wear a mask, properly, at all times when they are in the building.


If your student is vaccinated, please send a photo of their completed vaccination card to the front office. This will help us know what to do in the event of an exposure. (office@thecharlesschool.org)
