Course Selections For The 2019-2020 School Year

All students and parents should be able to access course requests for the 2019-2020 school year in HAC. Parents, you received an email in mid- April with your student's updated course selections for 2019-2020. In order to make a change to their course requests, you will need to go to the email and click the designated link to make changes. All changes must be done by May 10th.

Are You Interested In Engineering?

If you are interested in obtaining an engineering/engineering technology/computer science degree, but are not sure where to go to do that, consider the Texas A@M Engineering Academies! Students admitted to an Engineering Academy are Texas A&M engineering students from day one, co-enrolled at Texas A&M University in the College of Engineering and at a partner community college. Students enroll in math, science and core curriculum courses through the community college and have the unique opportunity to enroll in Texas A&M engineering courses taught by a Texas A&M professor on the community college campus. The Academies provide many benefits including smaller classes and substantial financial savings!

Peer Tutoring Support at BNHS

We are now offering peer tutoring by our NHS students on Tuesdays and Wednesday before (8:00-8:30am) and after school (4:10-4:40pm). ELA/Writing help is available in AC-333; all other subjects are in the Go Center in the Counseling Center. Please use the google link below to sign up for a peer tutoring session.

For free ACT prep, your student can use Naviance. Click here to login. Student will use their first.lastname as their username and ID number as their password. If they scroll to the bottom of the screen, they will see Naviance Test Prep.

G Force

G-Force is a group of students from UNT who are here to help anyone make plans for after high school. They can help you apply to college, trade school, or any type of career searching. G-Force will help you find the money and resources to go. You do not have to apply to UNT to get help. They also do classroom presentations, work with parents, provide academic tutoring and student mentoring. G-Force will be here every other Thursday from 11:00-1:00pm in the Go Center. If you are interested in meeting with G-Force, please stop by the counseling office and see Mrs. Harrell.

Interested in taking ASL? Want to see if your future college will accept ASL to meet the language requirement?

Many colleges and universities require that high school students take two years of a Foreign Language. Some colleges do not accept ASL as a Foreign Language that fulfills that requirement. If you are in ASL or interested in taking ASL, please click here for the list attached to see which colleges accept ASL to meet the Foreign Language requirement.

University of Texas Admissions

For Fall 2019 admission, The University of Texas at Austin will automatically admit eligible Texas students in the top 6 percent of their high school graduating class. This change to 6 percent is a result of the continued and future projected growth of high school graduates across the state.

Interested in Attending UNT?

High school juniors in the top 20% of their class, mid-year, can join Eagle Advantage through their participating ISD and receive guaranteed admission to the University of North Texas.

Registered students have access to programs and services on the UNT campus during their senior year.

What is it? Raise.me is a platform that helps 9-12 grade students prepare for college by earning scholarships for their achievements in high school. Also, many universities and colleges offer scholarships. Make sure to look for the specific scholarship deadline for that specific college/university.

Naviance

Naviance is a resource students can use for college and career guidance, ACT prep and tracking volunteer hours. Please visit the counseling website or click here for more detailed instructions.


Seniors trying to request a transcript need to login to Naviance, add the college to Colleges I'm Applying To and the Request Transcript. Student MUST mark that they have submitted their application in order for the registrar to send their transcript.


If the student is applying to college, via the Common Application, then all requests (transcript, recommendation letters, etc) comes to the counselor directly from the Common Application.
