**Labs have been blocked off for both of these days.
You will administer the survey to your homeroom class in the lab. Make-ups for students who are absent will be done by the teacher in the classroom.
To preview the questions on the survey: CLICK HERE ***You may use these questions for read-aloud accommodations.
***Permission Slips will be sent home in Friday Folders (CLICK HERE for a copy). Students whose parents return the permission slip, are NOT to take the survey. The permission slip is to OPT OUT of the survey. Please return permission slips to Stacey Gist by January 21st. Be sure to keep a record of which students will NOT be completing the survey.
To access the survey, students will go to the eClass Landing Page. Scroll to the bottom. There will be a message in the Activity Feed that contains a link to the survey (Will be posted on January 28th). The survey contains 15 questions and should take no more than 10-15 minutes.
The H-Drive (Home Drive) will be unavailable December 26th-29th
If you are working over the holidays from your H-Drive, make sure that you save and close all the open files before 12/26/2019 at 8:00 AM. Any unsaved data will be lost. Do NOT open any files from the H-Drive during this time.
All STAFF will need to restart their computers after 12/29/2019, 4:00 PM (or when you return from Winter break) in order to get reconnected to their H: drive.
Report Card Timeline
Post all Gradebooks, Comments and Work Habits by Friday, December 20th
Email from Stacey Gist:
Update: The county is requesting that ALL teachers post ALL gradebook sections (including conduct), comments, and work habits by December 20th before leaving for the holidays. I have added this to our report card timeline. We are going to call this our "Prepost." I know that you may need to grade a few things, but please post what you have as completed as possible before the winter break. This will ensure that any student who happens to withdrawal will be able to be issued a report card.
When you return on our Friday workday in January. ALL changes and final grades, comments, and work habits will need to be posted by NOON. We have a quicker turn around this year, so I will be sending out draft PDF report cards that same day (workday Friday PM) for you to look over and have all changes made and reposted by Monday. Printing will take place on Tuesday.
Documents you will need are linked below. I am also placing them in you box (printed small to conserve paper).

Parent Notification
GCPS staff has migrated to new email addresses. All staff emails follow this pattern: first.last@gcpsk12.org or first.m.last@gcpsk12.org. Please update your contact information for your teacher to the new email. The Parsons Elementary website has been updated to reflect your teacher's current email.
Parents can continue to email teachers at their "old" email addresses. This email should continue to work as well. However, we know that with anything new there can always be a few glitches. Please contact the office if you have any issues with emailing teachers or staff.
Coming in March...Microsoft Outlook
Our school is expected to transition to Microsoft 365: Microsoft Outlook for our email beginning on Friday, March 6th. Our Tech Team has already made the transition to Outlook.
The Tech Team has already transitioned to Microsoft Outlook and is working out the kinks! If you receive an error message (email not found in any directory) when emailing Stacey, Sharon, or Ricky, remember to push the Use Name Anyway button.
What to expect when our School moves to Outlook:
- On March 6th you will use Microsoft Outlook to access your email.
- Outlook mail can be accessed three ways: a desktop application, on the portal, or using an app on your mobile phone. The mobile app is not required but makes email so much easier to check on your phone or tablet.
- You will be able to access your Lotus Notes emails and Archives. Lotus Notes will be "view only" for email.
- Your "old" email address will be listed as a secondary email for you. You should receive email from your new email and your old email address, but you should begin transitioning to this new email address.
- You may want to add your new email address to your Gmail, if you have your Gmail forwarded to your GCPS email. Stacey sent directions to do this.
Click the link below for a quick 2 minute tutorial of the top 10 things to know about Microsoft Outlook:
