Technology

Summer is almost here! Did you know when your child signs in to his or her Chromebook they are directed to the Clever page? Clever is an online portal for easy access to commonly used learning applications. If you want your child to have access to Clever and learning applications over the summer I have included directions below to sign in to almost any device.

What is Clever?

  • Clever is an online portal for easy access to commonly used learning applications.

  • Students can access a district page as well as a customized teacher page.

  • Learning applications may include district paid resources, links to webpages, and links to teacher created documents.

Sign in directions for HCS Chromebook:

  • Open Chrome.

  • Clever should open as your homepage. If not, click the home button near the address bar.

Sign in directions for personal computers:

Some important points:

  • Students can ONLY be checked out by those listed in Powerschool. You may ADD to your contact list by emailing lburke@hoover.k12.al.us. Include your student's name, the individual's name(s) and contact phone number, and your signature. REMEMBER: A PHOTO ID is required from every person every time a student is checked out.
  • When your student is absent, you have THREE days to return a school excuse to the attendance office. Parent notes and DR excuses may be sent to the teacher via backpack mail or brought into the main office.

Meals at SSC- Breakfast, Lunch and Special Treats

Beginning August 2022, all students who buy lunch will be charged for school breakfast and lunch unless their household qualifies for free or reduced-price meals.

The application is available at www.myschoolapps.com in (5) languages: English, Spanish, Arabic, Vietnamese and Chinese Mandarin.

Prices for school meals for SY 2022-2023 are as follows:

  • Breakfast: Elementary/Intermediate $1.75
  • Breakfast: Secondary $2.00
  • Lunch: Elementary/Intermediate $2.50
  • Lunch: Secondary $3.00
  • Reduced-price Breakfast: All schools $0.30
  • Reduced-price Lunch: All schools $0.40
  • There will also be à la carte items such as extra snacks and beverages for an additional fee.

Breakfast Adults $3.00

Lunch Adults $4.00

Please use the following link to view the breakfast and lunch menu SSC Menu

Due to manufacturing supply shortages and food/supply distribution disruptions, the menu will be subject to change each day. The entree menu may also be limited to only (1) hot choice instead of (2) at times, but we will always offer a variety of vegetables and fruits and provide the USDA-required food components.

Parents may join their children for lunch after Labor Day. This will give us a few weeks to learn all of the lunch routines! Your classroom teacher will share their schedule at parent nights.

Set up an account to pay online through My School Bucks.

If families believe they are eligible for free or reduced-price meals, an application can be found and submitted at www.myschoolapps.com. In addition to qualifying for free or reduced-price meals during the school year, all families that receive approved benefits are eligible for a 2022 Summer P-EBT payment of $391.00 for each child.

Families must apply for free or reduced-price meals no later than August 31, 2022, to be awarded the distribution from the Alabama Department of Human Resources.
