Runners Go The Distance
Austin Christmas and Sadie Tharp competed in the "Texas Distance Festival" track meet recently. They both ran in the Elite division against some of the best distance runners in the state.
Austin Christmas ran the 800 meters. He got tripped while challenging the leader at the 600 mark and somehow regained his balance and managed to place 4th with a time of 1:59.
Sadie improved on the school 3200 meter record that she already held by 12 seconds! She placed 2nd in the Elite crowd with a time of 10:54.
Our softball program is very competitive, and these kids work very hard both during the season and over the summer and fall to get better. These ladies are responsible, academically oriented, and talented.
WHS is proud of these ladies. This is a good team, WHS just happens to be in one of the most competitive Softball districts in Texas.
We did win the Championship of the Stephenville Tournament March 8-10. Kristen Kamnick was nominated for the athlete of the week after collecting 5 home runs in that tournament.
Keep up the good work, ladies!
