Principal's Update
Hello Hound Families,
Our first week of the new year passed as quickly as our break. You children made a terrific transition back to their learning environment. I’ve had a number of teachers tell me how much the kids appreciate being in school, and it shows in their effort and behavior.
The new year brings lots of excitement and it is a special time for students and teachers. Our routines are established, confidence builds, and students begin to show significant growth, both academically and socially. COVID protocols certainly impact student attendance, creating a challenge for families and teachers, but safety is our number one priority and we appreciate your cooperation in keeping our school safe. In the event of an isolation or quarantine, your child’s teacher will reach out to you and ensure their learning continues while they are out. If you ever have questions or concerns, please reach out to the teacher for clarification.
A reminder to parents, any time we have a four day week, there will be no virtual Wednesday. This will be true the week of January 18th, as we are off for MLK, along with the week of February 1st, when we will have professional development for teachers.
Have a great weekend!
Important Dates To Remember
1/13 - Virtual Wednesday
1/18 - NO SCHOOL - Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
1/20 - NO VIRTUAL WEDNESDAY - Face-to-Face Learning Day
1/27 - Virtual Wednesday
Important news from the District Nurse
As you are aware, we are no longer requiring the daily COVID survey. We will however, continue to follow the recommendations of the CDC and the Livingston County Health Department for the health and safety of our school community.
There are a few important items for parents to know:
1) If anyone in the household has a pending COVID test, students MUST remain at home until the results are received. If the test is negative, students can return to school provided they do not show symptoms related to COVID.
2) A positive COVID test in the household will result in quarantine for others in the family. Anyone over 18 and under 65 must self-report to the Livingston County Health Department using the link below. The information you provide will determine isolation and quarantine dates that are critical to keeping our school community safe.

Counselor Corner!
Happy New Year from your Elementary Counselor, Mrs. Fox! I hope you had a well rested, and memory filled, time with your loved ones. For the month of January we are taking time to further acknowledge and support that extra added stress this crazy year has brought us. We are diving into mindfulness, yoga, and other practices, that treat the mind, body, and soul. The goal of these lessons is to promote self-regulation and self-reflection in our young learners, as well as to practice a sense of peace and calm during our days.
Lets Connect: If you are noticing some behaviors that are interfering with your child’s success in the classroom, please feel free to complete my parent referral form and we can work together to determine if supports are needed at school.
More Resources: The Elementary Counseling Team also has the BAS Elementary Counseling website for ideas and resources to be used at home!
