In Case You Missed It:

This year is going by quickly! It's already time to start talking about high school with our 8th graders. Lee Early College counselor and a couple of students came to speak with our kids during electives on Tuesday. Thank you to the elective teachers for your flexibility and the counselors for planning. Nejla said we have over fifty Stallions which have shown interest and will be invited to another session with more information on applying.

Our Parent Report Card Pick Up was very successful on Tuesday. Thank you for grade levels pulling together and supporting each other with food and fellowship during the late day. I stayed in the office after school to direct parents and help them signup for Parent Portal. From those that I spoke with, parents and teachers, the event was very successful. Gaye took all the report cards turned in to the office to be mailed Friday afternoon.

Congratulations to Linda Davis in ISS. She is expecting a baby end of December/ early January. She will begin her maternity leave when we go on winter break. We expect Ashley Inman back from her maternity leave at the beginning of December. Jessica Cole set her wedding date for May of 2017, and Hannah Thomas got engaged this weekend.

I received word last week that the Science textbooks are delayed until sometime in December. Science teachers will receive student logins when they go to the training on Tuesday and Wednesday this week at Lee County High School at 3:30pm. Math textbooks have been ordered. Teachers will receive their manuals very soon. Dr. Chappell and Susan Thomas are meeting with math teachers briefly during their planning on Monday. This is the same company we ordered our science textbooks, so student logins for math will be the same as the science.

Originally, we were told EVAAS teacher effectiveness data would be out the end of October. Then we heard it was delayed . This data was released to administrators last week and will be released to teachers on the evening of November 19. Remember, teachers must have three years worth of data to populate Standard 6 in NCEES, North Carolina Educator Effectiveness System. School data will be used for those teachers in non tested subject areas. It takes us all, we are all in this together, every second counts and every child counts!

AVID is collecting canned and nonperishable foods for Christian United Outreach Center, CUOC, of Sanford. This is a yearly campaign which ends with a "friendly" competition between SanLee and East Lee where the school builds a structure with the collections which gets judged by Communities in Schools and CUOC representatives. SanLee usually donates the most items, but has NEVER has won the structure competition. Shane is meeting with AVID reps on Monday to see how to kick up the campaign and plan the structure.
