Remember when students are learning from home they should be active participants - sitting up, at a table or desk if possible, and participating in discussion
Mrs. Ewald’s and Mrs. Fowler’s Reading and Language Arts
This week, students will continue reading the play “A Christmas Carol.” They will analyze the playwright's use of stage directions, make predictions, and determine what dialogue says about characters. They will decide if Scrooge should be excused for his attitude and behavior based on his past experiences. Finally, they will respond to a variety of statements and explain their reasoning for their opinions.
MATH
Course 2 students (2nd, 4th, 10th periods) will b edetermining products and quotients of rational numbers before completing a CSA before Winter Break.
Accelerated math students (3rd period) will begin working with exponents and scientific notation next week. Our focus before the break will be with powers and exponents as well as multiplying and dividing monomials.
REVEAL math students (8th period) will also be determining products and quotients of rational numbers before completing a CSA before Winter Break.
SOCIAL STUDIES
We will finish learning about the Constitution next week. We will be focusing on Articles IV-VII, which talk about Relations Among the States, Amending the Constitution, National Supremacy, and Federalism. We will spend Wednesday reviewing, and then we will take the Constitution Test on Thursday and Friday.
SCIENCE
We will be finishing up our in-depth exploration of mitochondria and chloroplast next week. The chemical reactions of photosynthesis (chloroplasts) and cellular respiration (mitochondria) as well as the steps involved for both plants and animals to get energy will be discussed. Students will have a summative on Wednesday, December 16.
