BSE Bear Bulletin May 26, 2016
Happy Last Day of School
BSE Parents,
Today I find it hard to believe that the school year has come to a conclusion and that the once kindergarten students, that were here when I joined the BSE staff, are ready to move onto fifth grade.
Today has been a whirlwind of fun and excitement. Our 4th graders have had a successful picnic (inside due to weather), yearbooks are being signed, and memories are being shared. Thanks to all of our parent volunteers who made the picnic a success. Your flexibility and smiles during our weather changes were greatly appreciated!
Thank you to the PTO for providing the staff with an amazing breakfast this morning. I am excited to share that Maggie Flynn, art teacher, was selected as the 2015-2016 BSE Teacher of the Year. We celebrated Maggie and many teachers today for their extra efforts and achievements around a lovely setting with a tremendous amount of food!
I truly appreciate and respect the BSE parent community and wish all of you an exciting fun filled summer with your children. We will be working long into the summer months to prepare for next year! See you August 8th at the Ice Cream Social!
Sincerely,
Dr. Kaminski

High Ability and Class List Information
This is the time of year when the neighborhood is buzzing with discussion around teacher grade level assignments and classroom placements. I thought I would clarify exactly what happens to ensure that you don't get the wrong grape from the grapevine.
High ability data arrived yesterday and we are working through cluster designs tonight. ALL parents will receive a confirmation of identification via the district. All classroom placements will begin with teachers tomorrow and long into the summer. I assure you that I'll be working on these into August and will finalize the day of Ice Cream Social. We take a great deal of time in placement and do so to ensure that ALL of our students have the appropriate programming aligned for their success.
Simply stated, if your student qualified or has qualified in past years they WILL be serviced appropriately, guaranteed! You will meet your teacher at Ice Cream Social and know that they are the one to service your child's programming.
I am hiring four new teachers, thanks to the referendum (thank you "Yes" votes!) BSE's class size will be optimal next year!
If you have any questions about placement, feel free to give me a call. I work through June 20th.
CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR HONOR AND EXCELLENCE AWARD WINNER!
K-4 IPAD FALL OF 2016

field day a success. A special thanks to the coordinators, Cassie Krack and Julie Hammond. I couldn't have done it without your assistance. Mrs. Schwoeppe
Save the Date!
Author John David Anderson will be at Brooks School Elementary on Thursday, September 29.
His newest title, Ms. Bixby's Last Day (HarperCollins, June 2016), has received three starred reviews! That's the equivalent of a really, really big deal in the publishing world.
Books will be for purchase through the Brooks School Library in August. Readers wanting to get a head start on his titles this summer should visit the Hamilton East Public Library, a Barnes & Noble bookseller, or Kids' Ink bookstore at 5619 North Illinois Street in Indianapolis.
