NEW STAFF SPOTLIGHT
Elizabeth Piplovick- Educational Assistant Ms. Elizabeth is new to Ocean Crest this year and works with our 3rd and 4th graders. She is married with 1 child and 3 dogs. She came from an automotive background, but for the last three years she has been able to be a stay at home mom and help her husband with the books for his construction and painting business. Her hobbies are playing tennis, hiking, swimming, watching her son play football. When asked what she most loves about working with kids she said, "In the short time I have been at Ocean Crest I have quickly learned how rewarding it can be. It’s amazing to be able to help a child and watch them when it finally clicks!" | Jennifer Shipp- 7th & 8th Grade Math Jenn is new to Harbor Lights this year, and we are over the moon to have her bring her middle school math expertise to our building. She has spent the last 16 years teaching in Eastern Oregon, 8 of those years at the middle school level. She has three children, and one rambunctious grand baby. Her oldest daughter is grown and on her own. Her son is about to leave for Mt. Hood Community College, and her youngest is in 1st grade at Ocean Crest. She loves being here on the coast. Her favorite hobbies include gardening, cooking, throwing pottery, knitting, and spending time outdoors. Jenn loves working with kids, because each day is unique and brings new celebrations and challenges. She loves working here because everyone in Bandon has been so welcoming. | Dustin Carmack- Special Education Teacher Mr. Carmack loves working with kids because he says it helps him stay young. He feels the time he spends mentoring and teaching is a ton of fun. Carmack enjoys learning from the students as much as teaching them because it helps him to stay relevant and connected to the youth. Some of his hobbies include family, nature, sports, music, and food. He loves mountains but would rather look at them and not climb them! He has a great deal of school spirit! If he could learn to do anything it would be to surf. His favorite quote or line from a movie is, "It is not the size of the dog in the fight, it is the size of the fight in the dog." When asked what his least favorite chore is, he responded, "all chores!" Carmack also coaches our Bandon High School football team. Go Tigers!!! |
