A digital footprint is a word used to describe the trial, traces or footprints people leave online. This is information transmitted online, Such as forum registrations, Emails, And attachments.

Opportunities (How is it used)?

Your Digital footprint is often used to obtain personal information about yourself, Or other things such as, Political, race and religion.

The purpose of a digital footprint is to interact with other people and or sites.

Impacts

A digital footprint can effect your future in good and bad ways, One bad way is say you are trying to get a job, The boss from the job will need all your personal information including your social media accounts and if you have bad stuff on it you are most likely not oing to get the job.

A good impact is you can get jobs using it, Because people put jobs out on social media for example Facebook they post status to promote their jobs.

What you can do to continue to improve your online identity is


  • Make self googling a routine practice (Check how many results come up when searching your name)
  • Set up a google alert account for your name ( Lets you know when people say stuff about you online)
  • Claim your name by using the URL ¨Yourname¨(Making your own personal URL)

I think the most important thing about maintaining a positive digital footprint that I learned this semester?

I think the most important thing about mainting a positive digital footprint that I learned this semester is that it can benefit you in the long run, You can get Jobs, Scholarships, etc... with a digital footprint.
