Message from the Principal
The Thurston County Health Officials made the recommendation that schools begin phasing in students for in-person learning while maintaining safety protocols of screening, masking, distancing, hand-washing, cleaning, and contact tracing. Dr. Abdelmalek's letter emphasizes that, by following these measures, schools have shown the strong ability to minimize the spread of COVID. On Thursday, January 28th our Group B (Thursday/Friday) Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd Graders will start their first day on campus at Lackamas. Group A (Monday/Tuesday) begins on February 1st. 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade students are scheduled to start on February 18th.
If your student is coming to campus the school day starts at 9:05. We will meet you at the drop off loop or your student at the bus loop. For safety, we are asking ALL families to stay in their vehicles. We know this is a change but it is one of the steps we are taking in order to open school. We have over 40 staff that will be helping students get safely to their classroom while staying 6 feet apart. Please make sure you complete the daily health attestation before sending your child to school! We are a germ-free zone if students are coughing, sneezing, have a headache, have had a fever, or signs of COVID we ask that you keep them home.
Students can plan to leave their Chromebooks and chargers at home. Your teacher will be reaching out about what to bring for supplies for class. Each child will keep their supplies in their backpack. We recommend bringing a water bottle that they can refill here.
Your support of our teachers has been so appreciated during these pandemic times. We will continue to provide high-quality instruction and opportunities for students to connect with their peers. Please know, your engagement with us has brought us so much joy. We will continue with Meet & Beep for February and March to celebrate our students of the month on Wednesday's. We want you to continue to reach out when you experience something that is tough or something you would like to celebrate so we can be a supportive resource in finding solutions.

- The challenge begins each year on America Recycles Day, November 15, and lasts until April 15
