What We Are Learning This Week

Math

We are finishing up our learning for the year by going back to look at real world skills that we need to perfect. We are focusing on elapsed time. Talk with your child about the time you are leaving and how long it takes to get places in the car!

Summer Splash Math Contest Motivation is an important part of any summer math program. Imagine Math will award hard-working students, parents, and teachers that take the Summer Math Splash Challenge! The Summer Math Splash Challenge runs from June to August 2018. Live Imagine Math Teacher Hours While working in Imagine Math, additional instructional support is provided by live, certified, bilingual math teachers who will tutor students one-on-one. Summer hours will be effective from June 4 to August 17. These are listed as local time zones. • Monday–Thursday, 7:30 a.m.– 6:00 p.m. • Friday, 7:30 a.m.– 3:00 p.m.

Below is the multiplication song for students to learn their skip counting! This is a great song to listen to at night or in the car. Open it and save it for easy access!

Science

Students are "researching" new animals that we discovered. Students are taking all of their learning from ecosystems, food changes, animal adaptations and animal structures to create a new animal that survives well in its environment.

Social Studies

Economics: We are using problem-based learning to come up with an idea for the new commercial space on 407. Students have to determine what the community needs and/or wants to be in Justin. They can create a new or use an existing business, make a business plan and market their business through various forms of advertising. They are using Google slides for their plan, but can use a variety of formats for the advertising.
