Late Start Monday due to Snow & icy conditions
Lubbock ISD classes are on a two-hour delay tomorrow, Monday, February 12 due to the increased possibility of icy conditions impacting travel to school and work tomorrow. School start times will be adjusted as follows: middle schools will begin at 10:20 a.m.,
Weather conditions will continue to be monitored, and we will provide additional communication tomorrow morning no later than 7 a.m. if there are any changes.

Cutest Dog in Lubbock!
Irons newest therapy dog, in training just won big! DeeDee won the cutest dog in Lubbock out of over 550 entries! Thank you for voting for her! She visits several times weekly. She loves coming to school.

It's Youth Art Month!
We have 15 student's from Irons whose artwork has been chosen to be displayed for Lubbock's celebration of Youth Art Month! Their art will be displayed at the LHUCA or the Garden and Arts Center throughout March. It would be awesome if you could come and celebrate with us at one of the following ceremonies! But if not I highly recommend going to see the exhibit another time and of course everyone congratulate these students when you see them!
Blue Ribbon Winners - at the LHUCA Reception and gallery opening will be March 1st from 4:30-6:00 p.m. during First Friday Art Trail. On display from February 27th through March 30th.

Robotics team heading to Regionals
Engineering 3 students had a busy day today at the FTC Robotics Championship matches! I am very proud of all of the Irons teams. They did such an amazing job today and all season!
Congrats to Irons Team 17512: Owen Cox, Kavett Townsley, Heath Cline, Rylan Messer, and Sam Washington for advancing to Regionals!
8th grade A team 3rd Place in City Tournament
The 8th grade A team played so well and were within 4 points of beating the championship team. We are so proud of their hard work this session. Go Cougars

Student issued Chromebooks.
All students are issued a Chromebook for school assignments and activities in their classes. Chromebooks are plugged in 1st period classes each day to be charged and are passed out each morning. Chromebooks must stay at school unless the 1st period teacher is aware it is leaving campus to complete school assignments (student must sign out with the 1st period teacher.) Students are issued fines for damage to their Chromebook. Please encourage your child to be responsible to report to each class with their Chromebook and return it each day the cart to be charged. Teachers will be distributing Chromebooks each day during 1st period, if a student is missing their device teachers will notify parents first and if it continues to be an issue administration will be notified.

What's TAACO?
TAACO = Taking Action and Creating Opportunities
Teachers are working hard to identify what opportunities will benefit students best. In the coming weeks students will follow the TAACO schedule on Tuesdays and Thursdays to address their learning needs. At Irons Middle School we will take action and create opportunities that will help students be successful.

Tardy Policy, per 9 Weeks
Students have a 3 minute passing period between classes. It is important that students are responsible and get to their classes on time.
CONSEQUENCES:
*Random tardy sweeps = assigned afterschool detention.
*10+ Excessive Tardies =Discipline Referral/Parent Conference Process
Absence Due to Illness
Call 806-219-4000 before 9:00 am and report the absence with the reason. The student is responsible for all missed assignments. Please see campus grading guidelines.
Cell Phone/ Earbud Policy
Cell phones should be OFF and in a BACKPACK when student is on campus. If student has cell phone on their person, they will be asked to put the device in their backpack. If the student refuses, the parent will need to come to the campus and pick up the phone. Earbuds, Airpods, Headphones, etc. should NEVER be in the ear unless explicit permission during instruction time.
