Week 4 Reminders
and Celebrations - Term 4 2021
From the Principal
Wishing you all a really lovely weekend ahead!
Another great week here at St Emilie's with our Interschool Athletics Team coming third overall.
Today is National Teacher's Day and we held a simple morning tea to thank and celebrate our wonderful staff. On your behalf I sincerely thank them for -
- all the time, care and expertise they give to their vocation
- their generosity of time, their creativity and their passion
- their humour and kindness
- their genuine interest and dedication to supporting and challenging each and every child in
our school to be the best version of themselves they can be and to give their best effort to all
Thank you staff - your efforts are noticed, valued and appreciated.
What: St Emilie's End of Year 2021 Concert
When: Thursday 2nd December
5.00pm Arrival Time
5.15pm - 7.15pm
Where: On the School Oval
- Families will be asked to plan well ahead - your parking plan; saving the date; picnic rug, low
chairs, food, babysitter for younger children if required.
- We are relying on all children to attend, however if you know that you will be away, it is
important that we KNOW as soon as possible for planning purposes, thank you.
A note providing further details will come home closer to the date.
The Edudance Concert will run from 5.15pm - 5.50pm (PP-Yr 6) and the Christmas Concert will run from 5.50pm - 7.15pm (Kindy - Year 6). All year levels will sing a song and the choir will also perform throughout the night.
The weather is always the great unknown, so please cross your fingers.
COVID is also another variable, however all we can do is continue to be guided by the directives we receive and, so far, so good.
Events like this one take a considerable amount of time and planning. We hope that you enjoy the effort the children and staff have gone to in a relatively short space of time, amidst the many Term 4 demands. We hope it will be a wonderful way to celebrate the end of the year together.
Please make sure that you read the note below regarding next year's booklists. It is important, in order to avoid disappointment, that you read the note carefully and highlight due dates. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact the School Office.
2021 St Vincent De Paul Appeal
With up to 17 per cent of Western Australia's 610,000 children and young people estimated to be living in poverty, it is timely to be sharing a note detailing our annual SVDP appeal for families in need. This initiative is a great way to teach our children about the real meaning of Christmas and to brighten up the lives of some families in our local community. Thank you for your anticipated support.

Attendance and the opportunity to learn
Families are reminded of the importance of children attending school every day. Teachers spend much time and effort planning and providing many different learning opportunities that help to set your child up for success, however lack of continuity can greatly impact learning opportunity.
Thank you for all your efforts to organise appointments outside of school hours.
Thank you for understanding that school holidays are when family holidays need to be taken.
Thank you for keeping your child home when they are unwell but sending them back when they are restored to good health.
Thank you for valuing your child's education.
Please remember that if your child is absent, it is a parent's responsibility to write a dated and signed note detailing the reason for the absence. If your child is absent or late for school the explanation note must be sent to BOTH the class teacher:
eg mailto:first email@example.com
and to Admin : mailto:

Year Five Excursion
On Wednesday, 27th October, the Year Five students travelled to the WA Museum Boola Bardip to learn more about the many stories that have formed the history of Western Australia.
Boola Bardip means 'many stories' in Whadjuk Nyoongar; the Country on which the Museum sits.
We worked in small groups to explore the museum and we learnt about the significance, history and identity of WA. We discovered different ways the Aboriginal peoples remain connected to the land and we reflected on the importance of working together to continue to sustain this beautiful land we share.
Despite the weather, we had a fantastic day and we can’t wait to explore more of these themes in class over the remainder of term four.

A Whole School Community Effort for those in need ...
Please read the letter below that invites you to make a small donation towards our annual support of St Vincent de Paul, who do such wonderful work in the community.
Next week each class will be collecting items that will go towards creating 35 large Christmas hampers for local families doing it very tough at the moment.
We will also be setting up our Christmas Tree in the Office with our Wish Upon a Star tags in mid November. This allows any families who would like to buy a small gift for children of these families, to do so.
Many thanks for your generous support - it is very much appreciated by the families themselves and by all the volunteers who deliver them.

In preparation for Advent, this course will explore the meaning and content of Christian hope, and the centrality of Christ’s Incarnation to Christian hope. We will also discuss the efficaciousness of the Holy Spirit, receiving Christ Incarnate in the Eucharist, and prayer, fasting and almsgiving to grow Christian hope and combat hopelessness (despair, acedia and presumption) to prepare our hearts in hope for the coming of our Saviour. Social Worker PARENT REFERRAL and CONSENT FORM
School social workers focus on the student in the school environment and work collaboratively with principals and teachers to minimise the impacts of personal, family and school difficulties and, where possible, remove any barriers to learning.
With students as their focus, school social workers provide consultancy, advice and support to principals, teachers and other school staff and to families, so that they can best meet the needs of individual and groups of children and young people. There is a strong emphasis on individual student and family counselling and support.
This service is an amazing opportunity for kids, staff and families and one we have wanted in our school for some time.
Please find below the Parent Referral and Consent Form to access our School Social Worker.
You are asked to read the procedure carefully and also note that Kylie only works two days a week. While she will do her very best to accomodate all family referrals, patience may be required as she prioritises her case load and allows time for observation visits, classroom support and playground involvement.
Image Embroidery now services our school community's uniform requirements.
For all uniform queries, please contact a member of the Image Embroidery team (contact details below).
Their store is just 5 minutes from St Emilie's for 'try ons' or you can order uniforms via their online form.
