HELP US INSTALL CHERRY VALLEY'S RAIN CATCHMENT SYSTEM, AND MODEL EFFICIENCY FOR OTHER SCHOOLS TO REPLICATE!
When: Saturday, February 23rd | 10am - 3pm
Where: Cherry Valley School: 1001 Cherry Street, Petaluma
Cost: Free! Thanks to the City of Petaluma
*Since participation is limited to 25, priority will be given to those who attend the Rainwater Harvesting presentation on the February 21. You can register by clicking here.
Join Daily Acts and BlueBarrel Systems to construct a water harvesting system with recycled food grade barrels from start to finish. You'll learn the principles and practices of rainwater harvesting and gain hands-on experience in outdoor plumbing assembly, ventilation and filtration practices, downspout tie-in and overflow.
In this workshop participants will work together to build an 12 unit BlueBarrel System. Participants will lend a hand in construction—all experience levels welcome!
We anticipate that this will be a well attended event, so please note that we only be able to directly work with about 25 people for the blue barrel install. Other activities will include working in the school garden, located right next to the site where the installation is happening.
Not only will you learn how to install a rainwater harvesting system and create garden features to support it, but you will also have the opportunity to talk with the school leaders who helped to get funding and support for this project. Join us and learn tips for how you can incorporate rain barrels at your site, too!
Please bring a potluck dish to share as this day will include a community lunch. *This event will happen rain or shine! If you try to register for this event but it shows up at full you are welcome to join as a walk-in, but know that you may not be working directly on the rain tanks. For questions you can call Liz at 707-789-9664.
